Re: A baby doll that mimics BF?

  • Hey Tina! I don't know about the BF doll but I wanted to say I LOVE LOVE LOVE your siggy pic. Those dresses are cute but those babies are adorable! They're getting so stinkin big!
  • Loading the player...
  • I saw that yesterday on the Today show. I am not sure how I feel about it either.
  • I know little girls want to do what their moms are doing, but I'm not sure what I think either.  I had a baby doll that pees when I was little, but BFing hmm....I probably WOULDN"T buy it.
  • The first thing my 6yo niece asked me when she found out that I was pregnant was 'are you going to breastfeed?'.  I thought that was a weird question from a 6yo, but her MOM talks about it all the time.
  • Indifferent

    wow

the sucking motion of the doll...

you will see this technology on porn products now... (if it doesn't already)

  • I heard about this on the radio this week. I think it's sort of disturbing!
  • I heard about it too.  My friends kids actually "fed" their baby dolls by lifting their shirts (from watching me), so ok, maybe, but to me the doll is still weird.  And the name...Baby Gloton! Glutton?  I mean that's a deadly sin...so it makes it sound like bfing is a bad thing.
  • I think it's a doll that I won't be buying for my daughter. It's one thing for a kid to learn about bfing from watching it happen in real life. Trying to teach bfing through a doll when they are so young seems weird to me.

lol - this is prob true.

i think the doll is hilarious - baby glutton.  hilarious.  no i would not buy this doll for daphne.  i think it's normal and beautiful for a little girl to mimic her mama if she sees mama BFing a younger sibling, etc. but to have a doll that comes with a halter top so you can feed it from your nipples is just a little more than i would prob go for.

  • I'd buy it for my daughter. How is this different from when we were little girls and fed our babies from the little bottles where the milk disappeared when you tilted it?

To me it teaches nurturing. It's not uncommon for little girls of BF'ing mothers to lift up their shirts to feed their dolls anyway.

Oh yeah, and Tina, I agree--your siggy is simply too cute--you need a license for that kind of thing.

  • That's kind of disturbing.

Actually, I really agree with this. I wouldn't buy it b/c I try to avoid vinyl / cheap plastic toys anyway. The concept of a suckling doll doesn't bother me, I just think kids can do it through their imagination and don't need the flower t-shirt.

  • I'm glad to see more ppl with me :)

I think I pretended to BF my baby doll too and when I had my girls I really wanted to and I wouldn't freak if my girls pretended as well but I don't know about the daisy/vest/suckling doll.

    Aww!  Thank you :)

  • Ok- I am the biggest BF'ing advocate that there is but I much prefer a little girl to mimic her mother (or other woman) with her imagination than have a doll do this.  I know i did this with all of my baby dolls when I watched my mother BF my brother and my mom thought it was so natural and cute.  I didn't "need" it to actually suckle.

Buuut- if I had a daughter who really wanted this doll so she could be like mommy or auntie or someone else, I'd get it for her.  Those are my thoughts!

My husband on the other hand would be totally skeeved out!
