step 1.... (cut a hole in a box).

ok, i kid.....

step 1: in your current screenname settings, change your email address to something else (old one, made up one, whatever you want.) if you want to still be able to log in under the old name (to check PMs, etc), choose something that you'll actually remember. it won't make you confirm your change via an email sent to the new account, so that helps if you change it to a nonexistent email address.

step 2: create a new name under your formerly "taken" email address

step 3. wait the obligatory few days. how we love thee, bump....

i just did this a few weeks ago when i was playing around with changing my name (which i also hate and made on a total whim when i was bored one night) and it actually does work.

hmm... maybe i'll make the switchover. i'm still new enough here that it wouldn't be a big deal to start fresh.

at least you have a good name, mine is the same boring aim screen name i had in middle school! i want to change mine but i'm horrible at thinking of good names on the spot.

ha! someone on here called me out as an AE purely because of my name. i was so new i don't even remember who it was now.

when i changed my name a few weeks ago, i made one that pays homage to The Office. i may or may not whip it out one day. wouldn't that be saucy of me?..

I kinda wanna change mine cause it looks like I am about to get married still!! I don't even know if it is worth the hassle. I think most people know I am married...if not well now you do!!

the biggest (only?) difference is that someone who only has one viable email address can still make a new name without having to create a new email account to match. i'm too lazy to go back and find the post where it was discussed, but people were talking about it down below.

definitely not life changing - but helpful nonetheless

it totally is! good guess. i like it but it's long (like my current one) so it wouldn't show up in posts as the full name. we'll see. i'm mulling the changeover since i'm not hugely attached to this name. my original knot and nest name had something ridiculous like 15,000 posts on it but i lost them all when they changed to the new format in the great nesticle debacle of... 2007? 2008? i forget when it happened.
