Can so much scrubbing away harm the baby?

I clean the home of a really nice family three times a week and today was my first day back on the job after finding out were pregnant. SO, I got really tired as I was scrubbing their floors (hands and knees) and I could feel it working my abs. Is this okay to do? I Do a lot of vacuuming, bending, lifting (not much different than cleaning my own house except I do it straight for two hours without rests and stress to finish everything on time).

What are your thoughts? should I tell her I can't clean as much or something or just keep on going?

Re: Can so much scrubbing away harm the baby?

  • I think the baby will be fine. It's really little, and padded in there...

the hardest thing is getting tired so fast...

I would just keep on trucking til your stomach is so big you can't clean anymore...:)

    good luck

  • I worked in a portrait studio on my knees, side, squatting (later sitting on a stool) lifting etc. and DS is no worse for wear.  I would be more wary of the cleaners.  Nothing too harsh from what I've read.
  • Your only concern should be the chemicals you may use.

  • I clean house's for a living. And my dr told me it was fine to clean up until 38 weeks. I clean about 8 - 10 big house's a week and me and baby are doing good. Just to let you know it get harder when you get bigger. Good Luck!
  • Thanks everyone.
  • I think you're fine.  The stretching feeling you were experiencing is pretty normal as the muscles in your stomach and ab area expand to accomodate the growing baby.  Like pp I said the main obstacle you're going to have this early is the fatigue.  But maybe the fact that you'll be busy will be a good thing as opposed to me sitting sitting behind a computer all day.  I think if I had a more physical job I may handle the fatigue a little better.
