I was told they would schedule me the week prior to my due date. Is that just so you don't begin labor? Seems like my LO should cook as long as it can.
im just guessing at this one, but you are in a highly populated area.. and they probably want to make sure that you are booked in the 41-42 week range? The way I am reading in to it is that at 39 weeks if you havent started something then they will schedule in 41-42 weeks.. I could be wrong but thats how I am reading it.

This is what they told my sister. They are scared that she will begin laboring on her own.
then there you go. I am assuming they couldn't turn LO either. So yeah they don't want you to go into labor because they dont seem to know how to birth breech.
Do you have some sort of medical reason to have a C-section? If so.. that might be why they do not want you to go full term.
No, just that LO is breech.
That is a medical reason. They don't want you to go into labor because it is dangerous for both you and the baby to deliver vaginally breech. And, believe me, you don't want to.... I delivered my 18 y/o vaginally in the breech position and it was the most painful thing I'd ever done. This is compared to 5 other births. We were both lucky that nothing went wrong but I was unable to push him out myself and the idiot doctor had to manipulate my belly from the outside to get him out.
ETA: and my son was in NICU due to lack of oxygen during delivery. He does have some long term effects but is basically ok now.
My best guess when this happens is that the doctor doesn't want labor to begin or rather the baby to start moving down. The baby might move to far down and get stuck trying to come out the other way or just might make the c section more complicated? Just a guess. I'd ask my doctor.

I scheduled mine today for 7 days prior to my due date. The doctor said they don't want you to go into labor on your own, but they also know how important it is that the baby stay in until 39 weeks. If you go into labor before that, you still get the c-section, everything just happens faster!
Good luck!

I personally would not allow them to just schedule me for a c-section for no reason other then to get it over with. I want my daughter to come when she's ready and I plan on waiting at least till my due date to schedule me for a c-section. There has got to be some other reason they did that.
Oh your breech?? Well, their is your answer. That is very common. If they don't reposition themselves by 39 weeks I think they just go in and get them cause its dangerous for you to go into labor when he can't come out the normal way!!!
It's so they can insure a spot for you at the hospital. Baby is fine after 37 weeks and they don't want the baby to go into distress. Do you have any other symptoms?
I was told with my first that the reason for doing it about a week early is so that the baby does not decend all of the way. It is more difficult if the baby is fully engaged in the birth canal. My DD had to vacuumed out even at 38.5 weeks because her head was stuck in my pelvis. It took longer to get her out and they would prefer it to be over fast.
Re: Why do they schedule c-sections before your due date?
They want to schedule it at 39 weeks, before 40 weeks. That's what I don't get. I would rather go over than early.
