My EDD is 11/11. Everyone has suggested I stock up on spring / summer clothes while they are on fall sales but I have no clue what size(s) to get. I am having a boy. What size did your baby wear at say 6-7 months and how big was he / she when born. Thanks.
Re: Size question for fall mommies
This is very hard to guess because you don't know how big/fast your baby is going to grow.
DS was born 12/25 and he's been in size 6-9 for the summer. He's 75th percentile for height and 25th for weight. If he was shorter he would fit in 3-6 weight wise. I wouldn't buy ahead until your son is older.
He was wearing 6-9 months, 9 month and 12 month clothes depending on the brand.
DS was 7lbs 3oz when he was born and 19" long. He wore newborn size for 6 weeks, 0-3 month for until 5 months, 3-6 until 7 months, and is currently in size 9 months. I had people give us clothes in 6, 9, and 12 month sizes in summer and winter clothing, so half of it he can't use.
As good as the sales are, I would stick to just a few basics, like onesies and such that your LO can wear no matter the season and wait to purchase shorts or pants/sweaters until your baby grows into it.?

DS was born 11/14, weighed 8lbs, 9oz, and was 21 inches.
For spring and summer clothes, he's wearing 12m in Carters (some 18m), 12-18m in Gap shirts & onesies, 6-12m in Gap shorts, 6-12m in Janie & Jack one-piece shortalls, 6-12m in Gymboree shorts, and 12-18m in Gymboree shirts, onesies, and pants.
FWIW, he never wore NB clothes.
My due date was Nov. 24, but Will was born on Dec. 4 so I guess our situation was pretty close to yours. Will wore 6-12 months this spring and has been in them all summer as well. I probably could move him into 12-18 months at this point, but I am NOT buying another summer wardrobe for the last 4 weeks of the season.
Will was 7lbs. 11 oz, and 22 inches long when he was born. He has consistently been in the 75% for weight and the 50-75% for length.
Personally, they grow so fast that I wouldn't buy the clothes now. The best advice I got was to return some of the not-so-cute 3-6 month clothes - you will have tons because everyone buys 3-6 months for baby gifts - and save the credit to use on the next season's clothes.
Wow this really highlights the difference! My DS was born 12/23 and he hasn't worn 6-9 month since spring. He wears 12 month and up in Gap, Old Navy, Carters, and Janie&Jack. I don't think he's even that big at 20lbs!
