Ladies with continuing high BP...

does it "feel" like anything. I was just bored in a meeting and wondering about why, sometimes (usually for a period of time every day) I can hear my heart beating in my ears (it starts like my ears are clogged, like in high altitiude and then I can hear my heart beating) and feel weird, especially after exercising. Then I thought it could be high bp, or is that off the wall?

Re: Ladies with continuing high BP...

  • I would get thee to a grocery store that has one of the those blood pressure cuffs! I take mine everytime I walk by them, and so far it's always been normal (even when I too am feeling weird)
  • Loading the player...
  • I second the motion!  That does not sound normal, especially if it's happening often.
  • Kelly - I just did that at lunch! It was 130/83 which is higher than my normal (120/80) but nothing wild.
  • I'm around 5 months pp and my BP is still elevated a tad (usually 120s/80s, so not too high, but higher than pre-pregnancy).

For several months pp, it will still very high and yes, I could tell when it was high.  They say high BP is a "silent killer", but I could definitely tell!  I'd get to feeling like I was in a dream, if that makes sense, and just generally felt off.

I suggest buying a cuff at Walgreen's or something and checking your BP when you get to feeling like that.  It's possible it spiked and by the time you got to the grocery, it had gone down a bit.

  • For me I always am tired, have a headache and can feel my heart beating at a fast pace even now that my bp is controlled by meds. ?
  • I get dizzy spells if I have a sudden or large change in BP.  I get migraines that are triggered by both BP issues and allergies, and I don't always know which one is the problem.  That aside, it might be worth monitoring your BP a bit more.
  • I can totally tell when my bp is high.  I get a headache which feels like a belt squeezing my head.  I got a home bp monitor.  My Dr actually told me to get one.  She also had me getting my bp checked at the hospital every day when I went to NICU after almost being readmitted twice with high bp even on my meds (170/110).  My bp is still higher than it was pre pregnancy (it used to be 90/60) 130/70 but is getting better with time and my medication 90 mg of nifedipine.  I hope I can eventually get off the meds.

  • I've felt weird like that a few times and so far, every time it's been normal (i bought a cuff)

but tonight I got kinda dizzy and everything got blurry and mine was 135/85. Again, not HORRIBLE, but not great, either. I don't know if the thigns are related or not.
