1st Trimester

I bought something...am I crazy....?

So......even though it is still early.....I am excited.....but I am scared to be too excited "just in case". I thought since I was having a crappy week (emotional, tired, nauseous) I would go and buy a baby item to see how that would make me feel. I ended up buying a gender neutral sleeper with a matching hat and a pair of pants. Am I crazy? Is it too soon. I think I am a bit silly - but it was fun to look at the stuff.....

  • I don't think you're crazy...I have a lot of clothes already :) They're so cute...how can you pass them up???
  • Loading the player...
  • You're not crazy, I've been lurking by the baby section of Target, etc. for weeks now.  It won't be long and I'll probably be doing the same thing!  Enjoy yourself, how often do we get to be pregnant and excited about having a child!

  • YOU ARE NOT CRAZY! I've been stashing away baby stuff for the last couple years...

  • Nope not crazy at all! I say not to worry about jinxing yourself and just enjoy every day. If you see something that catches your eye or is a great steal I say go for it!

  • I just bought a gender neutral onsie! If I see something I really like or want then I will buy it!
  • A couple weeks ago DH & I bought our gender neutral bedding set and nursery decor. Our family has been buying us tons of gender neutral clothing.

DS #1 born January 2010. DS #2 due June 2014.

  • Be happy, revel in your pregnancy and anticipation, if it makes you happy, do it!
  • You're not crazy. Enjoy it!

Looking back on my first two pregnancies what I regret the most was not enjoying my first trimesters. I was so wrapped up in secrecy, anxiety and worry that I never really enjoyed it. Your pregnant...that's an amazing gift. Celebrate it.

I'm not saying that this is as easy as it sounds. I am still facing the same issues this time around but I am trying to remind myself everyday to focus on the positives. Even if that means buying little things here and there.

  • DH and I bought the baby his first present at about 6 weeks because we were so excited! Yeah, it's on the early side, but I decided that it was helpful to me so that I didn't worry about all of the "what-ifs."
  • DH bought a diaper bag and an Eeyore stuff toy.  We also got some onesis to use to announce our pregnancy.

  • If it makes you feel better, we bought our entire bedding set at PBK at 4 weeks. Embarrassed It was clearanced & sold out the following week, so I'm glad we did!

  • You arent crazy.. but if i could go back and buy things it would NOT be clothes! You will get a ton! buy things that are needed-things people dont want to buy because it isnt cute.... like a thermometer, or outlet plugs..that kind of thing.. you will be happy you did!

Hahaha...I just got a discontinued PBK set on eBay because I am OBSESSED with it and have seen nothing I even remotely like as much.... had to do it! :-)

  • I'm looking at dopplers and will probably buy one soon even though I can't use it for at least 5 more weeks!
  • I bet I can make you feel better. Three confessions:

I bought a hat before we even took our test. I told myself if we're not pregnant I'll give it to our friends who are (they are 6 weeks ahead of us).

I got a big bag of 0-3 month hand-me-down clothes because I said I have a friend with a 2 month baby girl (which I do)- except I went through it first and took out the things I like. Most of it was ugly but there is a cute button down and a cute onesie.

I also set up a fake baby registry online.

Don't look at it as jinxing- look at it as thinking positively!!

(*just to head off any comments- I KNOW having a baby is about more than buying clothes and presents so just give it a rest before you start. We are allowed to have fun with this!)

  • I haven't bought anything yet, but my mother has a whole room already for kids. (No babies in the family yet). ?This room has been full of bookcases full of books and dolls and toys and it's been like this for about 2 years. lol. ?I haven't told her we're pregnant yet! ?I can't wait.?

  • That's not crazy!  And I bet it made your day a little better, too.  You are already providing a good environment for your little one!

We are due date twins!   I have been thinking about buying some things but have been holding off b/c like you, thought it was too soon....we dont have our first appt until next week....but I think you've just inspired me! Big Smile

I think it helps to remind yourself a little of why you're going through all this STUFF...sometimes it can feel a little overwhelming...and the end seems so far away.
