Re: chicago gtg location ideas

  • The zoo would be fun and realtively inexpensive...would DH's get to come I know mine would pout ;-) if he couldn't come too ( he loves the brookfield zoo)

  • I don't know how pricey this is these days, but the Shedd Aquarium is awesome
  • So I think with parking and everything the zoo would approx break down to $20/per person. right?

What about doing something at like a baby facility that throws birthday parties? We go to bubbles academy and LOVE it. Its an awesome place. I could try and price out what a party there would be (or somewhere else - maybe even like a gymboree). Just another idea since Bubbles has FREE parking so it would be easy for everyone to get to.

  • BF Zoo, Randall Oaks Petting Zoo 35 min west of city at Randall and 90, Arboretum, pumpkin patch (tis the season).

  • If there is a pumpkin patch or cider mill open I LOVE that idea!!!
  • I like the pumpkin patch idea depending on the weather. We all know how cold Chicago can get, but hopefully not in the end of September!

I love the BF zoo and it can be realatively inespensive if you bring your own lunch.

I love the aquarium idea as well. I have been wanting to go there.

  • I have to agree with the idea of a zoo or even the aquarium. I also must warn you that if we go somewhere fun DH is going to try to weasel his way in too.
  • Fun!!  I live in the city but will be out of town that weekend.  Don't forget Lincoln Park zoo -- it's free!!  I just looked into Bubbles Academy after stumbling upon it last weekend.  It looks great -- glad to hear it got a good review.

A little less than 7 hours west of there.  I'm in Carroll, Iowa.

i do, we're labeled as the coolest of the cool Stick out tongue

are we on your list? I just convinced DH to take us to Chicago for a weekend, and how convenient it is the same weekend as the GTG.

  • The pumpkin patch Idea is good too, there is a big one called bengstons on the south side, it is so fun, we go every year and it has hay rides, Pig races, tons of food, of course a pumpkin patch, and neat things for the kiddos

lol, i actually don't have a list. but it should be really easy to make one. i'll start a new post so we can get a guesstimate

lol i am an idiot. :)

  • THis pumpkin patch is easier than Bennington's because it is so close to 90 which is where the WI and Iowa ppl will come from, and most of the city folk.  SO much stuff there.

  • Can you guys give us OOT's an idea on how far from the city we are talking here?? We are going to be staying downtown (not sure what everyone else is planning) so I sort of feel like the closer to the city we can GTG, the better.

I like the Pumpkin Patch idea, as long as it doesn't entail a 30 minute drive outside of the city center, kwim?

  • I am coming from Indiana and it takes us 2 hours to get into Chicago. How far out of the city are we talking because it seems as though some of these are on the North side of Chicago.

What? No pumpkin patches in the middle of Michigan Ave?? LOL! I figured, just wanted to be sure.

I will have to chat w/ DH about our final plans once we decide. I would hate to just leave him in the city all by himself for a day.

I haven't been there yet but my mom works in that area and keeps telling me to bring DS to Goebbert's this year.  Sounds like fun!

  • I'm loving the idea of the pumpkin patch more and more.  And the one in South Barrington even more since it's nice and close to my house :)  LOL
