What was your "schedule" with a 6 week old?

Was it still eating every 3 hours?

Right now we are eat, "play" (he stares at me or the ceiling or wall while I sing or talk to him) and sleep.  Sometimes he sleeps an hour and a half, sometimes 20 minutes.  No real routine.

He is sleeping 10pm-4am or 10-6 some days.

Just curious what a normal routine is since I'm going back to work in about a month.

  • Yeah that was pretty much our "schedule" if you want to call it that. He was feed every 3 hrs and we played and slept in between. I'm so jealous that your LO sleeps that long at night! Mine was up every 3 hrs till he was 3 months.

    Cute picture by the way!

  • I LOVE your siggy picture! We really didn't have a schedule. DS was still nursing every two hours or so. We would try to "play" in between and he would power nap some.
  • Same here....he ate every 3 hours & we followed eating with playtime, then sleeping, except for the last feeding when he just went to sleep afterwards.  It's great that he's sleeping so well at night!  DS didn't sleep that well until he was about 8 months old!

Ditto this. DS ate every 2-3 hours until he was 4 months old and slept at least 1 hour after every feeding and then slept from 8 PM - 1 AM with a feeding and then again from 2 AM - 6 AM.

Love the siggy pic btw - very cute!

  • WOW, he is already pretty much sleeping through the night! What a blessing! That was pretty much our schedule.
  • We didn't really have a schedule.  She ate every 2 hours but she wouldn't drink much at all.  She was up at night every 2 hours as well.  How I do NOT miss those days.  LOL.

  • That's pretty much our schedule.  Eat, wake time, sleep.  During wake time, I'll sing to her, talk, tell her silly made up stories, read books, put her under the toy bar, give her a bath, take her on a walk or put her in the swing.  She was going 3 hours, but now is going 2-3 hours for feedings.  I thought she might be power eating to go longer at night, but nope!  I'm jealous Mack is sleeping so well for you.  I keep saying as soon as H gets chunked up...just maybe she'll go longer at night.  Mama needs her sleep!
  • LOVE the tiny baby siggy pics!!  Jfarmer and Sars- your babies are adorable.

  • I spoke too soon.  Last night he was up every 2 hours and tonight the same.  I had a good week of 10-4 with one 10-6:30, though.
  • oh and thanks for all the compliments.  He's starting to gain weight but he's pretty long.  He's 10lb 6oz and still fits width wise in NB clothes but just barely long ways!
