OMG ya'll I am just freaking out over this birth experience. For those who don't know I had my daughter 2 years ago. Induced at at 5/6 days over as my doc's office likes to induce by 41 weeks unless you specifically request 42. I am okay with this personally. I did not WANT to be induced and wanted a more natural labor experience but that was not in the cards for me. I pushed for 4 hours after 24 hours total. It was rough. So this time around my doc was out of town (***!) but I have a fantastic practice and wow do I love the doc who delivered me even more then my old doc (who is very good tho) but i just loved this new one. I delivered my two girls both at the same hospital. 2 years ago they shoved formula at you, had a paci in the basinette without even asking, didn't seem happy about their jobs and one lady even made me cry cause she was mean to me.
This time around we induced again a tiny bit earlier then last time, 3 days overdue. DD #1 was 8 freakin pounds and hard to push out, very hard, so I felt it was okay to induce that "early". I met the doc who would deliver me 1 week before he did. He could not even strip my membranes. I was not doing anything down there. We checked in tuesday night, nurse looks at me (very nice girl) "your barely fingertip dialated" yeah um not a suprise. Next hour another lady comes in to do the cervadil overnight. She freakin rammed her hand up my lady bits, hurt like a ***. "Um, we won't be giving you cervadil tonight my dear, your nearly 4cm on your own!". Wow I had gone from nothing to 4 sense last thursday! Wahooo! So they let me be all night which was decent except for the IV.6am, they did pitocin and the coolest nurse ever came in. 25 year veterin (didnt seem old enough to have 25 years in) and 4 kids of her own (twins in one set). She kicked ass, she knew what she was doing.
My doctor came in several times which was nice they called him the "midwife doc". 7:30am broke my water, within 30 minutes holy hell those things hurt, got my epi after some fendryl to tide me over, I was moaning and not happy lol. Then she turned off the pitocin because I was doing so well on my own!! WAHOO!! I loved that, just knowing it was more natural made me feel better about it. Baby as usual and with #1, never had ANY issues with anything, which is a shocker because guess what? Cord wrapped twice around the neck AND meconium (very small amount) in my water.

I only pushed for 30-40 minutes. They actually left me to labor down for an entire hour while I was at 10, and I could tell the epi wasn't doing as good and I was going downhill, so I said lets do this (we were trying to get a hot spot on my right side to numb but I was getting ill and just knew we needed to do it). Everyone was soo cool, the room was fairly empty, and very quiet and calm. I had to have a nursery team because of the maconium but they didn't bother me like last time (won't get into that but everyone was an ass hole cept my doc last time). I was just SITTING there with her head out of me, so crazy. Last time I tore and had to be cut, this time he gave me the tiniest cut. I was very scared when she came out, she was so blue from the gunk on her and they did NOT want her to cry because of the maconium and she just looked freaky (not moving etc) but doc kept telling me she was fine, i sent DH over to stay with her and he came to tell me she was well and I heard her cry. SHEW.

Guess how big my "little" girl was? 7 pounds 13 ounces!! Pretty darn big again for me. I knew she would be close to #1's weight, a bit smaller due to being tad earlier and she was. She is taller too, and has BLACK hair! Doc and nurse kept saying they really thought she would be smaller and they both felt I could not push out a baby bigger then 8 pounds. I'm not one of those super birth-giving ladies who is all fine after, I swell bad down there afterwards, each nurse who checks me remarks on how swollen I am. I don't think it's as bad as last time cause I didn't tear as bad but esh it's sore man! Doc said my pelvis was narrow but tall which is why I probably had to push 4 hours last time.

I love that they let me labor down, and them breaking my water wasn't so awful as I thought it would be. Everyone was impressed by how baby handled everything considering she had the cord wrapped and meconium, she didn't need anything special besides just taking a while to check everything before giving her too me (that was weird, I was starting to feel she wasn't mine, I just wanted to hold her, so wonderful when I got too). So if your still reading, it was SO MUCh a better experience then my first birth, and I know a lot of it was the nurses this time around and of course my body has been through it and handled it better. I pushed really good everyone said I was kicking major butt and I "felt" more this time to be able to push right. I'll have better pics later, I don't like the flash going off all the time with newborn eyes.
