Terrible cough

My little baby has been coughing for 3 weeks now. I took her last week to the doctor and they listened to her chest. My pedi said her lungs were perectly clear and the cough may be related to teething. It is really weird because she rarely coughs during the day. Once it is bedtime she starts coughing really bad. Pedi didnt think too much of it and said to elevate her head at night while sleeping, use baby vicks rub on chest, and turn on the hot wwater in shower and bring her inot the bathroom before bedtime. Does it sound teething related? Of course I fear RSV (even thought this is not RSV season), asthma, etc. Has anyone else had this kind of cold or cough while teething? Or, do you think it is something more? She is drooling like crazy and the little teeth are right there ready to pop through.

Re: Terrible cough

  • DS has a sensitive gag reflex and tends to cough easily if he has alot of drool or sinus congestion.  It could be that she is coughing because of the drool.  If she is congested triaminic makes a vapor fan that really helps DS when he has a cough.  I'm sorry she is coughing.  I hate coughing, it is the worst and always freaks me out.

  • DS did this as well. he was always a little stuffy during the day, but not too bad. and then at night, tons of coughing. we waited it out and it ended up being an ear infection. although, today we discovered 2 teeth coming in as well (about 2 weeks after the ear infection diagnosis).

    good luck!
