what size GMD?

DD is almost three mnoths old....about 11 pounds.  She is definitely outgrown her newborn PFs (we bought unbleached Indian PFs from Nell's Natural Baby, they were called "infant" size and measure about 10x13.5.

I'm torn as to whether I should order yellow edge or red edge.  I feel like yellow edge may only last us another two months or so and the red edge are only a half inch wider than the yellow...but an inch and a half longer.  I know we could fold down the extra rise.  We are still using our XS thirsties covers with plenty of room but I wonder if we skipped yellow edge if they would be too small.

We don't use PFs all the time, they are mainly a backup/laundry day diaper for us, plus if we see we're using our pockets too fast we throw some PFs into rotation.  WDYT?  How long were you able to use your yellow edge PFs?

Re: what size GMD?

  • I got some yellows at 5 months and they were too tight so I got some reds which were perfect.  I just got browns, over a year later.

I think a lot depends on not just weight but how chunky their thighs and belly are.

But at 11 pounds, I still think you could get a lot of use out of the yellows - until 15/16 pounds.

  • I never used yellow edge, but I had some 2008 sizing brown edge which are essentially the same as the current red edge.  They were big on my 15 lb. 3 month old when we got them, but they fit (even if a bit bulky) when I folded them down.  They still fit when I sold them a couple of weeks ago, and Seth is now 14 months & 25ish lbs.

If your baby can still fit into her xs thirsties covers, I would bet that you'd need the yellow edge.  Did you look at the pictures of the diapers on babies?  That can help a lot.

  • I would go with the yellows. After they're too small to snappi, you can trifold them and lay them in the cover. They'll be super trim! :)
  • thanks everyone.  i'll order the yellows and wait on the red edge!

    yay for new dipes!
