scary and potentially dangerous etsy item...

Re: scary and potentially dangerous etsy item...

  • WTH! There is no way that's a good idea!

ETA: I reported it as well. I didn't know there was that function!

  • If DS used a pacifier I would never use something like that.  Holy crap, what was she thinking.  And just because she's been testing it on her own kid doesn't mean it's safe.  That's just sad.
  • ...

    *edit* I reported this item.

  • OMG that makes me feel sick!
  • Yeah, there's no choking hazard there. WTF?

Holy Mary Mother of God!  WTF is she thinking.

I am reporting the item and contacting her. I'm going to be nice...but that is a serious choking hazard!Crying

  • WTF????? i can't imagine that she hasn't had a scare yet. good lord that is just insane.
  • Guys, c'mon.  It is totally safe.  Look, she tells you how you can ensure your baby's safety right here on her website:

The narrowness of the fabric prevents a suffocation hazard from re-breathing in the event it becomes dislocated during use.

Please note that the Binky Buddy does not contain a flame-retardant like most infant clothing. However, it should still be laundered like the rest of your infant's clothing to protect his sensitive skin.

The Binky Buddy should NEVER be wrapped around the baby's neck, as this would create a strangulation hazard.

    Indifferent Yikes.

  • Seriously? And they haven't gotten sued yet?

  • when the baby is laying down, you just lay it on top and put the excess over the shoulders like in the pic.  but, if the baby is in a bouncy seat or swing, then drape it over the shoulders.  ugh.

I thought the same thing!  I hope the patent office tells her she's nuts.  And a danger to children everywhere.  Or just her own.

  • Indifferent That is not okay.

Ya think.  Wow, I'm truly scared just looking at that.  I cannot understand how you can think that's ok.

  • How do I know my product is safe? I've been "testing" it on my own baby for 2 months! He's now old enough that he can remove and replace his pacifier on his own, but the Binky Buddy still works well to keep it in place while he's sleeping.

Really?  THAT makes it safe?  Well call the CPSC & FDA and let them know that all of the testing they do is just obsolete.

  • is it anything more that a scrap of fabric? ?is there anything in it? ?i looks just like a scarf. ?(not advocating, just wondering how this?would?be any different than using my?handkerchief?or a cloth napkin)
  • omgawsh, that is terrible!  (ok, now I need to go back and read the rest of the comments....)
  • That is absolutely insane!
  • contacted her letting her know why the product is dangerous and how she'll be sued and lose everything she owns when a baby dies... also reported to etsy letting them know that they will also be sued when babies die from this product.
  • That thing is frightening beyond all reason. DH just walked out and said "WTH is that?!"

I read this same thing and about spit my tea out....

yeah, "testing" on ONE KID who has THANKFULLY NOT gotten in trouble from this is enough to make it ok!!!!!

wow..the lady is BSC.  Poor kid.

  • I give 3 days until we see a defense post from the seller.  Just saying...

  • What's so bad about a binky just falling from a kid's mouth when it sleeps?

Aren't you promoting bad teeth by forcing a child to keep it in their mouths at all times?

But parents can't be expected to be at their child's beck and call...come on pixy...don't you know that?  Kids are accessories so you might as well get the Binky Holder to match.

  • Whatever you do, DO NOT let the cork fall from the baby's mouth.  Under no circumstances is it okay for a parent to have to attend to their baby to replace the pacifier.

Silly women.  Don't you realize that this idea is breeeeliant?!  What on Earth is wrong with you?

    Confused

  • I can't look at those pictures without wanting to grab that thing away from the poor baby.  It just makes me nervous...whatever she says it IS a suffocation and strangulation risk and I hope, hope, hope she stops using it with her DC immediately.
