Nanny Share?

So after talking to my neighbor who has a 1 yr old, she is super interested in doing a nanny share with me. So Stoked! So where do I start looking? I told her I would research it myself. Also, if you have a Nanny Share program with a neighbor or someone close by do you swap weeks at your home? ie: One week her 1yr old is at my house and another week we are at hers?

 Any websites? Recommendations?

TIA!

Re: Nanny Share?

  • No recommendations, so sorry but just wanted to say that this sounds like it would work out great!  Sounds so ideal.  Keep us posted... I am curious as to how you guys will work this out.

  • Thanks Niki! I will definitely keep you posted on our progress. I've put my feelers out to my friends that are in local mommy groups. Hopefully we can get some recommendations. This would be the PERFECT solution for both of us so I hope we find something that works out.

  • Too bad you guys arent in south county.  A nanney share would be sweet... and probably much cheaper than the center we're taking LO to.
  • I know Kim, wouldn't that ROCK!  Linz and I were talking about that a couple weeks ago when we were both on the hunt.

My only dilema right now with sharing is that my neighbor is going to need the nanny for 2 hours a day MORE than me. It actually makes a $120.00 difference a week. Plus, since she needs her for more hours, we'd most likely have to have the service at her home. But that means she benefits from the housecleaning and the prep dinners. I am not sure how this is going to work out cost wise splitting it and I would hate to walk into it getting the short end of the stick ya know? It's trickier than you think when you share. Still researching......

  • If it is at her home, do you have to lug all of baby dj's things to your neighbor's house everyday???? what a pita.

(And by things I am thinking of bouncer? Swing? Pack n play? ect...not clothes and diapers...)

  • I was a nanny for neighbors about two years ago for the summer. They worked it out that we went back and forth between days so each family got the best of both worlds. Plus it gave the kids a different enviroment and a change of activities and toys. As for the paying thing they paid seperate since one was for a longer period of time. It was fun and the kids enjoyed it.
