DS is 8 months and has never slept in the crib. He has slept some nights in the bassinet and mostly w/ me because of bf'ing. He freaks out and has a meltdown when I lay him in the crib and will wake up the minute he touches the mattress. He has never really fell asleep on his own no matter what I do. I am so tired and am getting to the point where posting him on ebay does not sound too bad. Don't need flames, just help.
Re: What to do?
Could you start with naps?
Good luck!
read the ferber book. Even if you don't end up doing the full-out ferber method, he has some advice about breaking bad habits.
While you're at it, read the weissbluth and pantley books, too.
Well, might sound harsh, but I would put him in his crib and let him cry, perhaps with occasional check-ins to let him know he is ok. Habits are broken in 3 days or so (I think longer), but he has to learn at some point. I think it is so hard to let a child cry, but probably in his best interest to learn how to sleep by himself, in a safe crib. If he is 7 months, he is old enough, imo. GL
I will read them. Thank You!
