Oregon Babies

Do any of you ladies...

Use Women's Health Today???  I've had some unpleasant visits and issues arise with them.  Our next visit next week is going to determine if we are staying or using someone else. Although I dont really want to think about changing docs at 27 weeks.

Also any of you ladies delivering or deliver at Providence Portland Medical Center?? I just found out we cannot do a tour of the maternity ward and birthing center...theres only an online tour.  I was a little bummed about that.

What have your experiences been??

Re: Do any of you ladies...

  • I had my baby at Providence Portland Medical Center off of Glisan. I had absolutely no problems there. They have recently redone the maternity area with enhanced security. You used to be able to walk right in but now you have to get let in through a secured door. You deliver in one room and then get transfered to another after baby is born. Realistically, I couldn't tell the difference between the two rooms. I was told the only difference is the beds. Again couldn't tell. I used the jacuzzi as well and it was nice. I have to say the pictures online at their website does not really do a good job of the maternity area. It is all of the old stuff. Hope this helps!

  • I chose OHSU over PPMC. I liked the facilities better and was treated MUCH better overall.
  • If you are unhappy, definitely switch, even at 27 weeks.

I was 110% satisfied with my experience at OHSU. I can also rec my doc, if you want. I don't have personal experience with PPMC, but I know someone who birthed two children there (~4 and 2 years ago) and was very satisfied.

FYI, OHSU does only a photo tour at their free "tour" (for security/privacy), but they give real tours during their birth class. Providence may be the same.

  • thanks for the advice ladies. i checked to see if we got a tour with the birthing class but we dont. they just dont do tours there. oh well!

funny though ive heard two people who have had bad experiences with OHSU. i guess it just totally depends on the person and the situation!

  • I do and I have been having problems recently (trying to get test results for the last two days and still no results) and so has my BF who is 39 weeks pg.  She had so many instances of the dr. being 1-2 hrs late for appointments, not good when she is waiting with her 3yo!  She threatened to leave several months ago and had recs for a new doc, but then had a little issue and had to get in right away and the dr. apologized and made it seem like it was someone in reception who was at fault.  I personally feel like the dr. needs to start saying no to new patients.  If I can manage to get pg again, I am not positive at this point that I would stay.

I think this is true. But I'll definitely be returning for baby #2.
