Still sptting up tons on Gentlease

The gas is better though.

I don't know if I should switch it up again, or I'm destined to be soaked with spit-up for the next 6 months.

Argh.

  • Ugh, I'm sorry you're dealing with this, but at the same time I'm glad to know I'm not the only one.  I just switched DS from Similac Sensitive RS to Similac Isomil Advanced to see if that helps.  Have you spoken to your pedi?  Does LO have reflux, or just a "happy spitter" (I am going to scream if I hear that about my child again...it does not make me happy!!!!)?

Is it hurting him, or is he a happy spitter?  We had a happy spitter (kept 2-3 receiving blankets around at all times to use as burp cloths), and it didn't settle down until about 7m.  Only about half outgrow it by 6m and something like 95% by 12m. It stinks, but you're still well in that range.

  • Bri spit up on Similac A LOT and we actually started supplementing with the Costco brand formula and no more spit up. When I stop pumping we're going to just feed her that, bonus that it's less than half the price

The pedi classified him as a happy spitter.  There's no pain involved just a lazy sphincter in the tummy.

  • DS was a "happy spitter" - it got better around 8 or 9 months - although he still spits up occasionally... I know your pain!

  • Thanks ladies.  I have to warn everyone that holds that they are bound to get spit up on.  I tried thickening his bottles with some rice cereal and that did nothing but constipate the poor boy.

I may switch him back to normal formula because the gentlease stinks!

  • We had to use thickened formula, the Enfamil AR. It was very constipating and it sucked but it was the only thing my DS could keep down. The partially broken down proteins in Gentlease did nothing for him. We switched to regular enfamil at 6.5 months. My DS still throws up a lot, and things get better for a few weeks and then bad again. he is one of those 5% who hasnt grown out of his reflux at a year.
