tips for surviving the first birthday party?

i'm surprisingly not stressed about it at all YET. it's the 23rd of this month. I'm trying to keep things simple, though my mom always likes to go overboard on things and it's at her house.

 any tips for a smooth party? we have about 40 adults and 10 kids, i think.

    a cold glass of pinot grigio! with my MIL and all her friends coming to ginny's party I'll need lots of wine.

    My advice was going to be to keep it small, but wow, 50 guests.  I admire you!  I plan to do just immediate family for DD's first birthday.

    Our was close to that size I think we had 30 families show up. One of the best things I did was hire a photog to come for 3 hours and take pics. I didn't have to run around and try to capture it all I could just enjoy and feel confident that the photog got everything. Also let people help with set up and take down, I am so thankful I did and they helped a ton. Nominate someone to make sure the food is restocked if it gets low.

    the reason the party is on the larger side is that we made a bunch of  friends in the NICU and through our infertility support group. they've all been such wonderful support as we went through our NICU experience. i can't imagine them not being there for our girls.

    I second the pinot grigio idea...too bad i won't be able to drink for DD's 1st party :(
