Anyone on WW when you got your BFP?

I've been on WW for over a month and I just got my BFP yesterday. I was thinking of staying on it because I've been eating healthier than I have in YEARS. I figured that would be much better for baby. I'm not going to deprive myself of anything and I know I'll probably start getting much hungrier in the coming weeks, but I'd like to try to stick with it. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this wouldn't be a good idea? Anything I'm not thinking of?

  • Just check with your group leader.  I'm not sure they'll let you continue when pregnant.  You can definitely keep eating healthy though!

  • Well just be sure to eat more points than you would be when trying to lose weight. Maybe figure out what maintaining your weight would be and add those points.
  • I had been on WW for a year and was a lifetime member when I got my BFP, WW will not let you continue when you are pregnant because you need more calories and should not be losing weight.  What I have done is to keep eating the same type foods that I was eating on the plan and just eat more of them.  I also talked to my leader and asked for suggestions on how to have a healthy weight gain during my pregnancy.
  • I'm not sure if she does this during pregnancy, but Michelle Dugger is a lifetime member of WW...and she has 18 healthy kids!
  • You can still do weight watchers while pregnant.  You aren't dieting, you are just eating the proper amount of calories that you should be and eating healthy.  If you talk to the group leader then they should be able to tell you the number of points that you will need while pregnant.  While breastfeeding and on WW you get more points a day as well.

This. I also talked to my OB and she recommended sticking to the program but just eating more.

  • I was doing WW and they put me on hold till after the pregnancy.

But....I am still doing the plan on my own.  Per my doctors suggestion I just added in an extra 200-300 calories a day (half of that is 2 extra servings of skim milk a day).   My doctor checked my food journal to make sure I was getting everything I needed and she said it looked great and to keep at it!

So far I have gained 0 lbs....but as long as my doctor is happy and the baby is progressing as normal, then I am happy!

I am guessing I will start gaining shortly!

  • I quit WW when I got my BFP.  I don't think it's a good idea to count points when you're pregnant.  Try to maintain your healthy food habits and GL!

  • According to their website, WW will not let you continue while pregnant.  I had been doing it for 3 months before my BFP and will pick back up after the baby is born.

I'm still eating a lot of the same foods, but I'm not tracking and I'm not depriving myself if I do want something bad.  :)

  • Thanks for all your tips and suggestions! I'm doing WW online so I don't have a group leader. I'm not going to worry about sticking to my daily points, but I want to maintain the same types of foods I've been eating. I will bring this up to my n/p when I see her on Monday and see what her thoughts are.

  • i had been on ww for 3 months before becoming pregnant, i chose to stop and go at it alone, but im pretty sure that you can follow the program while pregnant. i think you recalculate your points like you did the day you started and when they have the questions that you can add points for (such as age and gender) one of the questions is pregnant add this many points and nursings add this many points. ask your meeting leader.
  • I'm a huge WW advocate- I feel like it's the only diet that actually teaches you how to eat healthy for the long term... a real lifestyle change.

That said, it might depend on which plan you're on. The one I did was the super old school plan that had you cound carbs, proteins, fats, fruits, etc.. It ensured you had a well balanced diet. My only worry with the point system is it doesnt necessarily ensure you are hitting all the major food groups, since you allocate points however you want (right??). That said, I know they came out with yet another plan that seems to return to original.

Long story short, I think WW is abotu as healthy as you can get, as long as you're using it to ensure a well-balanced diet. Definitely talk to your doctor and group leader.

Apparently, you used to be able to do it while pregnant but they changed their policy.  I assume it's a liability thing.  If you are doing online only, they wouldn't really "know" and you could adjust your points either in your head or fiddle with the questions to get the daily total you want.  I say that you talk to your doctor and make your decision based on the doctor's advice.  (I was going to the meetings, so I wouldn't have been able to "hide" it very long.)

  • I was, but I quit once I got BFP.  I am a lifetime member, and am still practicing the eating habits, but I don't let myself get hungry anymore.  Give the body what it wants!

  • I was on WW when I found out and I stopped going to meetings and I'm going to suspend my membership until I have the babies then I'm going to go back on WW, cuz I don't wanna keep paying for something I cannot use right now.
