How much are your little ones eating? We're on bottles now, so I'm wondering how much expressed milk/formula others eat during the day - and how much solids. Cereal amounts? Fruits and veggies? And feeding schedule?
We started solids at exactly 6 months, so it's still slow-going.
He still nurses on demand and gets three 6-oz bottles of EBM at daycare. DS resisted rice cereal by itself, so we didn't force it. In the morning, after nursing, he eats 2-3 tbsp of a fruit puree mixed with rice cereal and another 1-2 tbsp of a vegetable. At dinner time, he gets 2-3 tbsp of a vegetable puree and another 1-2 tbsp of a fruit puree mixed with rice cereal. So basically 3-4 tbsp of purees (with some rice cereal mixed in) at each of two meals. We'll add a lunchtime meal in a month or so.
He hasn't disliked any foods except rice cereal. We've done pears, sweet potatoes, peas, and bananas. Tomorrow we start oatmeal; by weekend I'd like to offer carrots. I make all of his food from organic produce, locally grown if I can find it.
His nursing habits are unchanged, but we noticed he's sleeping a lot better now that he's getting some balast in his tummy in the evening.
Re: Food Questions, Almost 7 mos old
DS just turned 7 months, and we started solids at 6 months.
He has 4 bottles of 5-6 oz + 1 bottle of 9 oz before bed plus about an oz of fruit or veggitables twice a day. We aren't doing cereals at all.
This our schedule;
6am - bottle 6oz
8am - breakfast (usually one of those earth's best puree with the oatmeal in it). just 1 jar
10 -11am - bottle 6oz
noon - lunch - 1/2 stage 2 fruit and 1/2 stage 2 veggie (ds won't eat veggie by itself!)
anywhere from 1pm - 4pm - bottle 6oz
6pm - dinner - same as lunch
7:30 - last bottle.
How much is that last bottle?
Thanks!
7:30am - 6oz bottle
9:00am - oatmeal (about 4 TBSP)
11:30am - 7oz bottle
1:30pm - 1-2 oz of fruit
4:30pm - 7oz bottle
6:30pm - 1-2 oz veggie
8:00pm - 6oz bottle
I always offer her a 7oz bottle but she seems to only take 6oz at her first and last bottle.
