Baby Names

sisters...do these sound weird together?

our DD is isabella and we both love the name addison for our next daughter.

so they sound weird together bc isabella is so girly?  i was also thinking of changing the spelling of addison to "girl it up" a bit. not sure how yet.

thanks!

(ps..i know addison is really popular, but so is isabella, so i'm not really concerned with that.)  :)

Re: sisters...do these sound weird together?

  • I don't really care for Addison but that's just me.

I like the name Sebastian though.  That is one of my favorites but totally does not go with our last name at all.

  • I don't think they sound bad together...... although I do have a question,

Would you call her Addison? Or shorten it in some way? I've never met any one with that name, it just seems like such a mouthful.

  • I think the 2 names go well together and I love the name Addison.
  • I don't think it sounds bad with Isabella, but I don't think it fits in with the feel of all three of your children's names.

I'm not a fan of changing the spelling. I think that Addison is so widely used for girls now that it is becoming feminine in its own right.

  • Of your kids names it sounds a little close to Anthony, but with your other kids in there, and with them being different genders, it's not a big deal. It sounds fine with Isabella.

Please don't change the spelling to "girl it up." This only causes un-needed confusion. I think if you love a name, love it enough to spell it right!

  • i like the name.  why change the spelling?

  • I like addison and wouldnt change the spelling but the other three names you have for your children seem to have an italian bent to them..why not stay in the same "family"?

  • I think that they sound cute together!
  • I think Addison is girly enough and kinda cute with Isabella.  I wouldn't "girl up" the spelling- she'll just hate having to respell it for people when she's older.

I read an article on NameBerry.com that might help you out. Isabella and Anthony are so gender specific that Addison might feel like an odd one out. If you are having a girl, I would find an equally feminine name (and avoid changing the spelling).

  • I think they sound good together!
  • I don't mind very popular names, but Addison is a disease. I don't see why that makes a pretty name JMO. It doesn't go with any of your kids' names either.
  • I really like them both!
  • I think Isabella and Addison sound fine together - I would not alter the spelling of Addison though. It's fine as is.

  • I think Addison is already girly enough.  Please please don't change the spelling, especially by adding a random "y" somewhere.
