well i used it once, but that thing is so freaking complicated to get on i said no can do from the first time i used it hhehe. ok maybve not complicated per se, but the length of fabric was nuts -- i felt like crystal gayle trying to wash her hair.
I preferred woven wraps because pre-tying the stretchy wrap still gets me frustrated. With a woven wrap, you kind of tie it with the baby on your body already, so you just get a better fit. And they come in shorter lengths.
can i still use it with an 18 lb 7 month old or did i miss my window?
You can definitely still use it! I wrap it before we go anywhere if I plan to use it and then just have to pop her in once we get to our destination. Practice wrapping it and it will become really easy.

I bought a Moby and an Ergo and I think I bought each too late... I'm holding onto them so that I can use them from the beginning with #2. Hopefully #2 will like them better than DD does!

the ergo you can use for a longggg time i thought!
I still use mine w/ a 7 month, 18 pounder. I do feel kind of goofy putting it on in public, but I've gotten it down to a science. DD loves to face out so she can see what's going on- I wore her around the zoo for a while a couple weeks ago and she had so much fun. I got a lot of compliments on it from other moms, too!
Oh, I love mine, especially now that DD is heavier. It distributes the weight so much better across my back and shoulders. I loved it when DD was small, too. She'd curl up into a little ball and sleep. So cute.
Re: speaking of baby carriers: i never used my moby.

We did love our Moby D though, for a while.

You can still use it - go to the website - they've got other holds that might make you happier - look for the videos.
Once you figure it out it's really not that bad & it's really comfortable on your back.
what is this!
Theoretically you could still use it but I wouldn't find it to be at all supportive enough for long term use - woven wraps are the way to go IMO.

I never used mine either.
I far prefer my Ergo or even the Bjorn to the Moby. Like you said, it's way too complicated.
come on now you know what that is.
