Met my new OB today and love her!

Since we just moved up here at the end of March, DH and I have had to get new health insurance through his work, and have had to get new doctors.  The one I was the most worried about was my obgyn. DH and I would like to try for a little brother or sister for Jake soon, but because I had preeclampsia with Jake and we were both in the hospital, him in the NICU we're a little worried about having #2.  But I met my obgyn today and she was great she answered all my questions she was super friendly and personable, and told me to go for it, that when I get pregnant they'll monitor me and not to worry so much about it.  I may get pre-e again I may not, but worrying about it isn't going to change anything, they'll monitor me and take care of me.  I feel so much better, and feel very confident in her!

  • Congrats!

I HATE finding health care providers! It's the worst part of a move, IMO. Now that I finally have a doctor and dentist that I like, I never want to move or change insurance!

...Now if I could only find a stylist... ;)

You should try my stylist.  I love him!  His name is Mitch and he is at Spank hair salon on NE 14th and Alberta across from the Tin Shed restaurant.  I think his prices are fairly reasonable too.

My stylist is the freakin best! Her name is Ruth and she works at Robert's of Portland. The salon is awesome and you get a discount off your first cut and/or color. Tell her Jenn Heath recommended you!

     The # is 503-222-4301

    Good Luck!

  • Thanks for the stylist recs! I have had scaring experiences with FOUR stylists (all recs!) since moving to PDX four years ago and am pretty scissor-shy now. But I badly need a cut!

LOL, DH started seeing someone at Spank based on Ange's rec and gets good cuts. And I had my hair styled for my wedding at Robert's.

  • oooooooh Hayley at London Influence in Portland on 10th by Jakes is WONDERFUL!  I've been going to her for years.
  • Who is your new OBGYN?  I'm not 100% happy with mine.  Re: stylists I go to Twisted Lox in SW PDX off Terwiliger. I see Brittany but all of them are amazing.
  • My Obgyn is Dr. Lisa Thum, at Providence St. V's Columbia Women's Clinic.  The OB I had in California was awesome, DH and I both agreed that losing her was a one of the negative parts of moving.  I didn't think I'd find anyone I liked as much, but I was wrong.  Dr. Thum was friendly and easy going, she made me feel super comfortable through my entire exam, and was willing to sit there and answer any and all questions I might have, I'm so glad I found an OB I like.  Feeling uncomfortable with your OB is the worst.
