My work is giving them out free starting in Sept or October.I will be in my last month or so of the pregnancy. The CDC recommends that pregnant women get the vaccine (only the shot not the nasal spray) and my OB says that I can get it if I want. Just wondering if that was the general consensus throughout the U.S. from other OB's because most studies show that most pregnant women refuse them for some reason even though it's recommended they recieve them.
Re: What has your OB told you about getting the Flu Shot??
I actually haven't even thought about the flu vaccine yet this year. I've been concentrating on the H1N1 vaccine and trying to research that lately. I'm not sure I want that vaccine just yet...!
I've never gotten the flu vaccine and not sure I will this year either...
mine gave me mine in the first trimester. i don't remember what it was about getting it later, but he wanted to make sure i got it as early as possible for some reason. it could have nothing to do with the shot, though - my brain doesn't function properly anymore
I was pressured into getting one when I was seeing an OB (before I switched to a mw) and it honestly didn't feel right to me to get one. But I did because I thought they knew best.
I've had fears on and off throughout this pregnancy because they say flu vaccines are the only ones that really still have a high level of mercury in them. I am not "anti-vaccine" by any means but the though tthat I might have put that into my teeny tiny baby scares me.
You are so far along I wouldn't worry. But that's just me. I would have rather gotten the flu then stressed that I gave my baby brain damage or something. That might sound dumb but we can't help what we stress about you know? I just wish I would have done more research before I did it.
Good luck whatever you decide.
