Fish Oil Pills?

So my Dr. recommended that I buy some mercury free fish oil pills because they are really good for the babies brain. Anyone know where I can get some?

Re: Fish Oil Pills?

  • I got mine on Amazon.  I didn't have the patience to go all over the place trying to find the right ones.

You didn't ask, but my advice is to take them when you go to bed.  They give me fish burps (which in turn make me feel worse than I already do).

  • Anywhere vitamins are sold should also sell the fish oil suppliments.

    Splurge for the "non-burp" kind.

  • I got mine at my supermarket (Publix).  It stated the fish oil came from anchovy and sardine, so I am not woried about mercury.  But ugh, the burping... will be switching over to Prenate DHA which I was told does not have that problem...

  • There is one made specifically for PG women called Expecta - you can usually find it at Target (it's a yellowish colored box). Not too bad - every once in a while if my stomach is very empty you might get the fish burp but generally I had a pretty good exp with them with my 1st pg....

  • Thanks for the advice. I never would have thought of fish burps (nasty).

  • The "Nature Made" ones are pretty good - you can get them at Walgreens and Target for sure.  I've been taking them since pg with DS.  They are the "non fish burp" kind too.
  • I didn't have any luck with a couple of the OTC brands - the aftertaste lasted for hours and was awful. I switched PNVs after my last bottle ran out to the Women's 1 A Day - it comes with a 30-day supply of PNV and DHA. I'm happy with them - zero fishy taste.
  • I use the Nature Made "no fish burps" kind.  They are on sale at A&P this week, half price.  Used them with DD#1 too.  Another trick-if you put them in the freezer they are less "burpy".
  • Women's One a day had a pre-natal vitamin that is two bottles - one is the vitamin and the other is the fish oil.  I take it every day and my doctor said it was fine.
