My two main questions are about cramping and Blood tests, i was wondering if any mom's to be had any answers.
I called my ob and told them i got a + test and they scheduled my first appt for ~8-9 weeks but I had expected them to ask me to come in for an initial blood test. All the charts i've seen on Fertility friend people had Blood test confirmations. Is that normal? Necessary?
Also, how much cramping did you experience in week 4 and 5? I still have intermittent cramps that feel JUST LIKE AF is coming with an additional little stabbing pain on one side. I know people have talked about feeling cramps before 12DPO and a positive test but no one says anything about how long it lasts. Any advice?

Re: Week 4-5 so many ????'s
Many dr's offices don't do blood tests.
I had cramping week 4 & 5.
I have gone in for 2 rounds of blood tests to test my hCG levels. I have had a miscarriage before and was also experiencing spotting at the time of my BFP, and have a short 9-day LP, so my doctor requested I come in right away. Your doctor might not be as concerned given your history - but I don't see why you couldn't request a confirmation and to have your betas drawn. I was concerned with my progesterone levels, too, which turned out to be great (so far). More results tomorrow.
As for cramping, I do get AF-like sensations a few times a day and I find I'm constantly checking myself to see if AF has arrived. I have different twinges, pulling sensations in my lower abdomen, but am also experiencing a lot of gas & on-and-off bloating, so I'm not sure if those sensations are related to that or what. If you scroll back a few pages on here, you'll see the check-in for April due dates post... and there are MANY women on there in our same timeframe that are having cramping and the same symptoms. It made me feel better to read all those!
Blood work is normally done on Pregnancy where there was trouble try to conceive and/or there is a history of Pregnancy Loss. Other wise First time mom's don't get this blood work normally unless there is early bleeding.
As far as the cramps go, Call your Doctor and tell them if you are concerned. Any advice you get here will just be their experiences and not a medical advice. I have cramps everyday but they aren't painful just annoying and I know when to call with pain.
I've had blood tests every time I've been pregnant, but I have to have my hcg and progesterone checked because of my history of losses (ectopic and m/c).
As for the cramps, with DS I cramped a lot during the first few weeks. I don't remember exactly when it went away, though. This time around I have felt mild cramping here and there, but nothing like last time.
:-)
HAHAHA! You will learn what is normal for you and what is not soon.....
Just so you know I called my Doctor 3 times today. So and As a SAL(success after loss) GAL I am a paranoid freak that call A LOT! And really, That why you have a doctor, For them to care for you and give you peace of mind.
I'm not scheduled for my first appointment until week 8, they didn't even ask me to come in to do a blood test to confirm the pregnancy
So I'm in the same boat.
As for cramping, I've had them off and on for the past two weeks. Mostly light cramps that last for an hour or so. I was told not to worry about them unless they are accompanied by bleeding.

I went in for my annual gyn appt and they did a preg test and bw at my request. Thats when I found out I was pregnant. I don't think most doctors order it if you have just found out with a home test. They scheduled my first u/s within a week of the first visit. It may vary by physician.
Cramping is normal and sometimes lasts longer than other mom's -to- be.
