When I was at the dr today he said to keep my heart rate at under 140 bpm and to reallllly cut back on my weights. I usually exercise at least 5 days a week and I'm thinking just to going to every other day. Biking and walking I guess. I normally do eliptical but I don't know how I'd do that but keep my heart rate down.
How much do you exercise? Any specific doctor's orders that you follow???
Re: Poll: How much do you exercise???
I was doing p90x lean before BFP. Right now I am assisting with house renovations during the brief moments when I don't feel ill.
However, when I resume, I will do the same routines, but tone down the intensity a bit - need to figure out what to substitute for stuff like jumping jacks, etc. Plus, I won't do the exercises for NEARLY as long... I was told to not exceed 15 minutes of a real workout, sigh. So maybe I will do something in the morning, and evening.
I exercise about 5 days/week - a real mix of stuff. Usually Zumba twice for an hour each, walking once or twice and jogging once or twice for a half hour each.
I had been taking weekly pilates but have abstained until my first pre-natal visit to ask more about if this is ok. I also need to tell my instructor I am pg and maybe she can modify.
I was doing zumba twice a week and I am so exhausted now that I can't imagine going to the class. The one I went to was SO intense that I would leave dripping.
Usually 6 days a week. I use the glyder and do yoga or pilates. I've been thinking about maybe swimming, but a cold pool first thing in the morning doesn't sound very appealing.
My OB said not to over due it and to keep my heart beat below 120.
I am busy reading the book "Exercising through your Pregnancy" by James F Clapp. There is no way I could ever keep my HR below 140 - I walk and it is over. The info in this book seems realistic and reliable.
My doc did not say anything about cutting back on my exercise, and he knows how much I did before. I stopped running for a few weeks because of M/S but have started again. I also did a 5 day hike, averaging 11km per day, over mountainous terrain, finishing yesterday and was fine the whole way.
Depending of course on if your doc has other concerns I have been told that if you did it before it is fine - just don't start running or something if it was not something you did regularly before. I have stopped cycling but that is because I am afraid of being hit by a car or falling of my bike, more than specific concerns with regards to excercise.
