Going to a concert?

Dh and I had planned a trip to new york, and we were going to go to a concert there. Now we are questioning that bc we don't know what effects, if any, a concert would have on the baby/pregnancy. Would noise that loud be bad for the baby?

Your baby can't even hear till like week 20... I think you will be fine.

I could be wrong but I thought from what I read in my book babies don't hear outside noises till 24 weeks. I need to go look again though to be sure.

GO! We are traveling to Chicago specifically for a Pearl Jam concert at the end of August and I can't WAIT!!! :::squeeeee:::

Ok, that's good. Dh said he didn't mind not going but it's his favorite band and I think he would have been disappointed, and if it's safe, then I think I'll suprise him with tickets.

The only thing I could think of that I would worry about is secondhand smoke. Is there smoking allowed? Yes, it's been waaaay too long since I've been to a concert lol..

I wouldn't stand right infront of a speaker but I'd imagine you'd be fine to go.

Most of you are saying it's ok, but I did just read something saying that exposure to loud noise while the baby is developing their inner ear can be very damaging... and yes at around 24 weeks. Here's a study I found https://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0816/is_1993_Feb/ai_13781935/ and a really detailed one https://pediatrics.aappublications.org/cgi/content/full/100/4/724. If you are going at the end then you are probably ok. Then again you might not even WANT to go. I'm going to see U2 in Sept and Metallica in November, but I might have to rethink it myself.

I went to Billy Joel/Elton John at about 5 weeks, and will be going to U2 in September... It's FINE. (the second-hand smoke is a good point, though in my case both events are outdoors in stadiums)

A friend went with us to a CSNY show and she was a good 6 or 7 months. We have tickets to see U2 in september and I sure as heck aren't backing out of that show!
