When do you ditch the infant seat and just use the stroller?

I think Isabel might enjoy riding facing forward in the stroller. I think she's ready (and likely has been for a while).

When did you start using the stroller without the infant seat?

And on a similar note, when did you put them into a grocery cart?

  • About 4/4.5 months or so...I put Jake in the BOB without the infant seat. I no longer keep him in the infant seat at all. I wear him or put him in the stroller.

Grocery cart was a lot later with Ty...I wore him a lot though. I want to say it was around 7/7.5 months when I put him in the cart with the cover.

  • And I love your new siggy pic!! Your daughter is adorable!

  • We stopped using the infant seat in the stroller when we switched out the carseat... then we had no choice. We weren't in a rush to either.

I actually think G enjoyed being able to see us. This past week-end he got a little freaked out we were behind him and cried until I turned him around.

I actually remember seeing a study about babies being more better adjusted if they are in a stroller that can swap directions and they can continue facing the parent for awhile. I need to find that article for you.

In terms of when? 2 weeks ago :)

  • I started using the stroller without the infant seat once Ryan got too heavy for me to carry in the seat....we also switched to our marathon at that point too.  He was about 5 months or so.   He hated sitting in the stroller though --- I usually had to wear him while pushing an empty stroller.  ;)

For the grocery cart, whenever he could sit up by himself ---I'd have to look it up, I can't remember off the top of my head.

Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

  • I still have DS in the infant snap and go thing.  He is really ready for the real stroller but it is in storage for a few weeks.

I put DS in a grocery cart around 6 months with the cover, I think if they are sitting up good they are ready, I held his hands on the bars to steady him at first now he's got it down to ride and loves it!

  • I gave up trying to use the infant seat around 4 months because DD would have a screaming fit.  I don't think she liked the angle and limited view (she was tired of looking at me all the time, lol).  She did so much better in the stroller facing forward.

DD has never been in the cart.  I usually just carry her in the Ergo.

  • We started using just the stroller around 5 months, but M still preferred to face me for a couple months after that. I wore him to the grocery store until he decided that was no longer his thing - probably around 8 months - then he started riding in the cart, but could have done it sooner.

  • exactly at 4 months I put logan in the BOB. He loved it and now i either wear him or he just rides in the bob. But hes never been a big carseat kind of kid, doesn't nap in it etc.

Since logan is sitting up i put him in the shoping cart today at TJ's. Kinda worked but not really hes still sways too much, so I just put him in the carrier.
