1st Trimester

cant handle my m/s already!

I just need to vent because I know my husband's patience for my sappy cry fests is running thin (bless his heart he has been SO supportive)

So I started feeling nauseous around 4-5 weeks and threw up maybe 3 or 4 times w/in those two weeks well last week my m/s hit me like a ton of bricks...as in throwing up 15-20 times a day and not able to keep anything down :-( I think that I am getting enough nutrients b/c I can usually keep the food down 15-20mins (the dr. said as long as I could keep it down that long the baby would get what it needed)

I just feel like I am dying, I dont know how much longer I can handle this and its only been 1 week!! anybody else have it this bad?? Nothing seems to help and I think I've tried everything (eating small meals, eating bland, ginger candy, ginger tea, eating crackers before getting out of bed, etc.) and to make it more frustrating my best friend is pg too and we are only 4 days apart and she is feeling great! no symptoms at all...its totally making me a bitter pregnant lady! this is horrible!

  • Your doctor can write you a prescription.  I would talk to him again since it is so bad.  Throwing up a lot can lead to dehydration, so make sure you are drinking a lot.

I agree throwing up 15-20 times is alot and your doctor needs to put you on a prescription to help with the m/s!

  • I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time. If I were you, I'd call your doctor. They can give you a prescription for Zofran that is safe for baby and should help tremendously with the m/s.
  • One thing that REALLY helped me was taking vitamin B6 along with Unisom which is over the counter, safe for pregnancy and usually used for a sleep aide. Taking them at night does a good job of keeping the MS at bay for the next day. It helps a little with sleep too. Ask your Doc about it or call a nurse at your clinic. HTH! I know it sucks!
  • This was me a few weeks ago.  I strongly suggest calling your doctor again.  I ended up having to go to the ER because I could hardly walk after two weeks of that.  I was on Reglan and Phenegran but just switched off the Reglan to Zofran.  I also have weekly IV's with fluids and electrolytes etc.  I wish I could tell you it gets better but I haven't gotten their yet.  Just remember the positive that the baby is coming and if that doesn't work just remember the maximum it can last is 40 weeks.  And I would def. call your doctor again.  Good Luck dear!

  • vomitting more than 5 times a day is standard protocol for obgyns to give you a prescription anti nausea medication. You have a long way to go before it gets better. I would call the nurses line, they usually have standing orders for zofran. I am still in your shoes, I know how horrible it is and debilitating. Look online for gin gins! Life saver!! Get pedialyte popsicles! Good luck
  • Ditto everyone who said to call your OB! You need to make sure you don't get dehydrated...
