Another post I read got me asking: what do you call a pacifier and why?
I've always called them pacifiers because that's what they are. Nuk is an actual brand--not what they're called. I've heard them called binkies, but I'm not sure why.
When I type, I call them pacis because it's shorter. At home, we actually call them sucky-suckies. Sounds dirty, I know. I called them pacifiers but then said to DS, "Ok, now sucky sucky," when I first gave one to him. DH started calling them sucky-suckies now. Weird. But they're still pacifiers to the outside person.
Re: What do you call a pacifier?
LOL this is a great name. we call it bobo or paci
Snooze button.
I call them binki, even when talking about pacis to other adults. Can't help it. I don't even know I'm saying it.
Pacifier, only lol! DH and I are on the same page, no nick names for it. It's funny when you're speaking to someone and each person is referring to it different names. I hope DS isn't confused because MIL watches him while I work and she calls it fa-fa...eeewww.
I call it a paci.
DH calls it a mookie or mook.
LOL! This is us, only I have spent well over $100 on about 10 different varieties. DS hates them!
I've always called them "succy" (sp?) pronounced soo-see
