1st Trimester

When do you typically start to show?!

I have heard so many different things...just wondering what everyone else thought....I am getting married in October (baby was a bit of a surprise!!!!) and I will be about 22 weeks by then. I tried to order a different size dress, but it was too late. Luckliy it is empire waist and has a pretty full skirt so everything will be covered. I am just hoping it fits on top. If my chest keeps growing like it is!!!!!

  • Hard to say everyones different i was five months gone with my son before i had a bump but its different with this one.

  • You will definitely be showing by 22 weeks. I think it all depends on your body though regarding how much.

  • Congrats on the wedding! I am in the same boat baby was a surprise and my wedding is September 19th. I will be 19 weeks at my wedding. Lucky for me I hadn't gotten my dress yet so when I got it I thought about my ever changing body. You will probably be showing by 22 weeks for sure just depends on how much. Good luck on wedding planning
  • Is your dress condusive to being switched to a corset in the back?  that may alleviate your worries....

  • I went for my first fitting a week ago....They told me it could be taken out 2 or so inches and if need be more fabric could be added.. Didn't think about the corset idea though! Right now it fits perfectly... I am not too worried about my belly, it is my ribs and up that need to fit! But I will surely ask about the corset if it comes to that....
  • like everyone says, each woman is different.  I popped around 14 weeks and at 22 weeks I def have a belly.
  • Lucky! I was told my dress wouldn't be in until the beginning of October, I was shocked when they called and told me it was in already. Good luck with your wedding! And the rest of your pregnancy!!!
  • you'll be showing by 22 wks.  i had a noticeable bump.  by no means was i big, but did have a bump.  since your dress has an empire waist, you MIGHT get away w/ it.  i'm sure they can take it out a couple inches if need be.

anyway I agree with what someone else said about putting a corset in the back that would solve most of your problems!

  • 22 weeks I was very noticeably pregnant. My rib cage grew enough I couldn't fit into my normal shirts or bras (until after baby was born...thank god they went back to normal). Hopefully they can let it out a bit for you if that's what happens. I bet you will still see a belly in an a-frame dress by then.
  • I was in the same situation ... lucky for me my wedding was last weekend so I was only 10 weeks.

I am in a friends wedding in Sept. I just went and bought my dress for it this morning. I wasnt worried about it at all because it was also an empire waist. HOWEVER, she warned that its the linning underneath you need to worry about. Just double check there is room in the linning for baby too :)

  • With DS I didn't look pregnant until 22wks, before that I just looked like I was gaining weight.
  • As long as your dress is an empire dress and you don't gain a bunch of extra weight you should be fine. Also, don't forget about your boobs. Mine went from a full B to a full D. There is no way I could squeeze my belly and boobs into a normal dress at this point. Than again, everyone is different. Good luck!
