Please help me with OB delemia

Ok, so with my last pregnancy, I had a wonderful experience with two midwives who saw me (alternating appointments, so I got to know them both, as one or the other would deliver me).  The hospital was WONDERFUL that I delivered at, and I had a generally great experience (El Camino in Mountain View).  However, we moved from there to Lodi, and while we had already moved from there to here when I went into labor, I still had plenty of time to get to the hospital (they had to induce me actually).

Anyway, I can't find a midwife out here within an hour of me - the one in Davis seems like it would be great, because they have many midwives, and a "birthing center" like atmosphere at the hospital. Sounds great, but its an hour away, and I'd be a new patient.  I refuse to be seen by the OB's here in Lodi, the office infurated me when I went, and from the stories I've since heard, its not something I want to experience. So, my delemia, do I go all the way to Davis to a new hospital and midwives I have to get to know (an hour away), or should I try going back to El Camino where I know the hospital, and midwives?? What would you do?

  • "All the way to Davis" is an hour vs. almost 2 hours to Mountain View, right? I'd definitely go with the midwives in Davis if that is the case.

haha that must have sounded funny - all the way to davis, which is shorter than going to Mountain View. But to me, it seems farther because I haven't driven it, and I don't know if I'll actually like them, so the risk is greater - if that makes sense. I guess I should give Davis a call. . .

  • Have you looked into OB's in Stockton?  It's closer then the two you mentioned and has three hospitals to choose from.

Yes, but no midwives. . .at least that I could find.  Do you know of any?

  • If you're open to a home birth, I'd recommend Lucinda Johnston-Chizsar.  She's a Licensed Midwife.

No, I'm really looking to have a similar experience I had last time, midwife at the hospital  - with a hospital that has tubs to labor in (not give birth in).
