I know they are used for thicker bottles with cereal in them, but I was wondering if anyone used them for just bm/formula.
In laws babysat yesterday while DH and I went to a movie and DS took about 1oz in the bottle, then got frustrated and pissed and wouldn't take the rest :::sigh::: So MIL just put it in his sippy and held him and he took it no problem. Gulped it right down.
I had thought of this, but most of the time he plays and spits a lot of it out and I'm not going to waste that much bm.
So, I'm thinking the fast flow nipples are just not fast enough. He's a very effecient nurser and can eat 5-6oz in less than 5 minutes. He likes to get in and get out and back to playing.
Do you think it sounds like it's just not fast enough for him? Do you think switching to a Y Cut might solve this ever-going bottle problem?
Anyone ever used Y Cut for just bm/formula?
Re: Tell me about "Y Cut" nipples....ANYONE READ ME!
Fast flow and Y Cut are different. Fast flow just had the one hole and Y Cut has a "Y" cut in it so thicker fluid can flow out, mostly used for formual/bm mixed with cereal.

Those Y cut nipples would just about drowned my kids! Even with rice cereal in their formula, it was too much too fast. Is he using a #3 nipple and still having an issue? If so, then I guess try the Y cut and see how it goes.
DD is on the #2 right now and DS was on #3 up until 20mos when he switched to sippy cups full time.
Just keep in mind that in general the faster/easier they can get their milk, the less they like to breastfeed and the less patience they have for it. Not all babies obviously but the risk is there.
I will not switch to a stage 2 nipple this time until I'm done breastfeeding because that was the beginning of the end for DD. DH pressured me into it saying it took her "too long" to take a bottle and he felt she was frustrated. Within a month I was pumping exclusively, 1 month later, I was DONE pumping for both sanity and supply issues.
