Catchy or a mouthful?

Colista Sue Blomquist

Ready, go! :D

Re: Catchy or a mouthful?

  • Unless you plan on using her full name all the time, it isn't a mouthful.

  • Not a mouthful, but it's NMS.
  • Does Colista = Callista, just a different spelling?

I don't think it's a mouthful since you used a one syllable middle name. I think it's cute.

  • Yes, just a different spelling. It's a family name spelled that way, and Sue is a family name as well.

Thanks, ladies, I just needed a little reassurance. DH and I haven't agreed this readily on a girl's name yet. lol

While I love family names, I wouldn't pronounce Colista the same as Callista. I thought Colista was Cole-iss-ta. ?

  • Oh, I didn't realize is was pronounced different? We pronounce it Call-ist-a.
  • I think it sounds fine and if it's a family name you should use it anyways

  • I think Colista Blomquist is a bit of a tongue-twister. I think the two "ist" sounds make it get tangled when I say it. Maybe that's just me though.

FWIW, if you spelled it Calista, you could call her "Callie" or "Cali" which would keep it from being so hard to say...Callie Blomquist.

I think the same thing. ?And I wouldn't have pronounced that Call-ista, I would have assumed it was Cole-ista, so you might have a lot of people saying it incorrectly.?

    THIS

  • I get that it's a family name, but really - that's a horrid spelling.

  • You can honour the family member without using the exact spelling.

Spelling it Colista sets the child up for a lifetime of their name being mispronounced.  If you want it pronounced Callista, spell it that way.

  • Mouthful! :) But cute/catchy for sure.

  • I definitely read it as "Cole-is-ta".
