We've never EVER had rash problems in cloth until this morning, when C woke up with a horrible blistery rash! ?Is there something that causes this-- maybe detergent buildup? ?We use CC.
I am letting her go diaperless for now, but we have to go somewhere this afternoong. ?Can I use a baby washcloth or something else handy as a liner so I can use rash cream? ?We have no CD-safe creams and we're in a really really rural area so we can't pick anything up.?
Re: Sudden blistering diaper rash? Halp!
seems to be a common problem for CC. the only thing that solved it for me was stripping my diapers and changing detergents completely. you can use a washcloth as a liner, but remember to wash it separately from the other diapers.
good luck. i'm sorry another person had to go through this.
We didn't get the ammonia rash but we did get serious ammonia stink from CC. I wish I knew why.
It worked so well for so long but then all of the sudden it stopped working.
I would strip your diapers very well using really, really hot water and Dawn. I had to strip more then once and use RLR on mine to get them better. It was a huge PITA but it was worth it in the long run.
We've been using this same batch of CC for months-- I wonder why it would do this all of a sudden??
Thanks ladies. ?Is there something special I should do during stripping for soft water? ?The area we are in has really, really soft water (to the point that when you shower you feel slimy!)?
We've had 2 like that that came on very suddenly.. one was when she was 2 days old and we weren't using CDs (this is why we switched to CD, actually).. she was allergic to the wipes and possible disposable diapers. The second time (not as bad) was earlier this week after I ran out of our normal detergent and used a different one. Luckily we caught it early. I put her in disposables for a day or two with lots of CA baby cream and powder and some TushyDerm (has cranberry in it.. works great for her for some reason) and it healed right up. I hot water stripped the hell out of my CDs, and so far, she's fine now that she's back in CDs.
?
Also, lots of diaperless time and oatmeal baths helped a lot.. and, at least for my DD, wiping at all, even with cloth wipes, can cause some serious irritation, so I run her butt under the sink instead and air dry or blow dry... ?
?
I've heard a lot of stories like this about CC.. you're not the only one, it seems.?
I've alwasys used Burts Bees on my pre-folds and i've NEVER had a build-up or prolem with ethe diapers. I think because it's so natural it breaks down in the wash and comes right off teh diaper.
Are you sure it isn't a yeast rash??? You can try some lotrimin cream and/on sprinkling some achdopholus powder on teh diaper area
Hope he feels better!
