Is this ridiculous?

Cole always poops about the same time (breakfast) and likes to sit up while doing it anyway, and it's easy for me to tell when he's going to. Would it be silly to go ahead and start putting him on a potty? I'm not thinking actual potty training since he still can't tell me and is obviously going to be in diapers for a while...but I figured the practice can't hurt.

Plus I have a couple friends whose 4 year old boys still only go in diapers. So maybe I'm just paranoid because of them. What do you think?

i don't think its ridiculous. i have thought about just holding audrey over the toilet when she gets grunting and she can barely hold her head up. she has conspitation issues and its always very obvious when she is going.

Some people do this from birth. What you are talking about is a modified (and far less stringent version) of elimination control (EC). So I would definitely do it. I figure one less diaper per day for 1 year is 365 less diapers to buy, right? LOL!

I don't think that's ridiculous at all.

If nothing else he will probably begin associating the pooping with the potty. I would think that alone will help in the long run.

I think it's great that you can tell and I say go for it. I also have a few friend with 4-year-old boys in diapers and I am so scared that will be me in a few years!!!
