Anyone have the E-tegrity Biopsy Test?

I went for a second opinion and the RE recommended having the E-tegrity test to check for missing proteins. He said we could do this and if it came back negative then do Lupron for a couple of months and then try on our own again before proceeding to IVF.

I am having a dilemma if I want to go back to my original RE to have this done. I didn't get a second opinion because I don't trust him. I love his office. I just wanted fresh eyes looking at my information to make sure nothing was missed.

If anyone has had this test done, was it very painful? What was your experience? It is similar to a colposcopy (biopsy of the cervix)?

Thanks for any information that anyone might have regarding this.

  • I think that tryingtogetpregnant had it done - try paging her.

  • Me me....I had it. I am not going to lie - it is painful. It only lasts 10 seconds though. I was "that" patient. I didn't have the integrins in my uterus. After 2 years of TTCing, we had finally found our issue through this biopsy. We still did proceed with IVF for a few reasons; however, we did the ER and then the 2 months of Lupron treatment and we are going for our FET in 2 weeks.

It was the best test I ever had since it found our issue. I would recommend that anyone and everyone do the biopsy, and I only wish we had done it sooner. If you have any questions, let me know.

  • I haven't had this test, but I HAVE had an endometrial biopsy (I had hyperplasia with atypia) and had to be moniotored by having biopsies every two months for a while. I don't know how similar it is, but if it's a biopsy of your endometrium, then it may be the same procedure, but just checking for something else. It REALLY hurts...a lot. I recommend checking with your doctor about taking painkillers beforehand. My gynecologist recommended taking 600mg Motrin an hour before. I've had it with and without the motrin and it makes a huge difference. Good luck.

  • Hi- do you have endo? It is usually pts with endo who are missing the protein but not always...

I have a slightly different story but good outcome-  stage 1 endo was my only identified issue & my RE said I could go do the test (which ins would not cover & let's just say I had 2 HSGs that did not go well so the thought of this biopsy was in no way appealing to me-it is definitely not like a cervical biopsy) or I could just go ahead & do the 2 months depot lupron prior to IVF. at the time, in the time I wouldve had to wait to have the biopsy, then wait for the results, etc, I couldve done the 2 months lupron & moved on. We decided just to give the lupron a try without the biopsy.

So, I had never had a bfp in 16 months of TTC, then did 2 months lupron, tried a last ditch effort on our own the following month, and then did IVF and had a c/p on our first try. It was disappointing but also encouraging b/c I had never had a bfp before! about 2 months later we did an FET and I became pg with twins.

Long story short, I will never know the real answer b/c I didn't have the biopsy but I do believe that it worked for me.  There are many REs who dont believe in it so you'll have to gauge your original RE's thoughts on it before deciding who to go w/ if you want to go that route.

  • Thank you so very much ladies!! That's why I love this board! You guys always provide the best information.

I am scared as hell to get the biopsy...I have a pretty high pain threshold, but for some reason this one really scares me! I wish I had know about it when I had my lap because I would have just had them do it then!

When my lap was done they found very mild endo. Nothing that my RE was too concerned about. I spoke to him once before about this biopsy and he really didn't say either way -- yes you need it or no don't worry about it. He sort of takes the stance of -- if it's what you want to do then we will do it. But this new RE said right away to do this biopsy. That it could give us about 6 more months after doing the Lupron (if need be) before having to definitely go with IVF. We are completely unexplained, so maybe this could be the thing that is missing.

The thing is that if we did the biopsy with the other RE, we would still be doing our Lupron and any injectible cycles with my current RE because of logistics and time off from work. My current RE is local and this one is about an hour a way. I would have to take too many days off from work to be able to do an injectible cycle and with being a teacher, that wouldn't be a good thing. So, I am not sure if I should do the biopsy with my current RE or the new guy. I don't really want to bounce back and forth. They are completely different to as far as offices are concerned -- my current RE is a small office, while the new RE is a big office because he is located in a bigger city. So does a bigger office mean more experience, but also maybe less personal time with the doc? I am starting to ramble now!

Thanks again ladies!! I really appreciate it.

  • I never did the biopsy, RE didn't recommend it. I had 2 failed fresh IVF's and 1 failed FET. Took a 2 month break to treat my stage IV endo, went on lupron depot. My third IVF immediately following the lupron depot, I became pregnant. Was that the magic bullet? I will never know, but it certainly didn't hurt and since we were on a break, it made perfect sense to do it.
