We have a boy name picked out (Grady) but have just been tossing around girl's names. DH likes Grace, Emma, and Charlotte, but I would like something a little bit different yet still old fashioned. So I found Emmeline and proposed it to DH. He isn't 100% sure but likes the idea of calling the baby Emma as a nn if it is a girl...here's the question: if we call her Emma, should we spell it Emmaline or Emmeline? TIA!
I don't know what's up with my siggy and I am too lazy to figure it out.
I LOVE the name Emmaline! I'm not a fan of nick names though and esp. not uber popular ones like Emma or it else it would be on the top of my list. I am not sure how the other pronunciation sounds?? Would love to know.
Re: Girl name dilemma
How do you want the legal name pronounced?
Emmaline is not pronounced the same way as Emmeline.

Emmaline - Em-ma - leen
Emmeline - Emm- eh - leen
That's how I would pronounce thest two.

My friend has a little girl named Emmeline pronounced Emma-line. I think Emmeline is the traditional spelling, but a lot of people mispronounce it.
I like Grace, Emma or Charlotte a lot more.
