I started accupuncture

Thursday I had my first accu. session.  I am going to do this throughtout my IVF cycle.  My accupuncturist claims that she has a 80% success rate with IVF patients.  I dont think that I believe that statistic but I am trying to be open-minded about it.  Im not really an earthy, new-agey type of girl but I am willing to try anything to get that BFP.   She had me lie on a bed with hot packs on my stomach and wrapped around my feet, she left the needles in for about 40 minutes.  It is relaxing - although that could be due to lying on a comfortable bed with nice hot packs.  I did feel a sorta itchy, tingly feeling in my right arm.  I go back on Tuesday for my next session and then weekly throughout this cycle.

    I'm curious to hear how it works for you and how it feels each time.  I've thought about this for a year, but I'm such a fraidy cat!!  Keep me informed...and good luck!

    Good for you! I, along with L&L, am a big baby when it comes to needles!

    I had always wanted to try acupuncture but it took fertility problems & my Mom passing away in April to get me to try it.  The first session I was nervous because I didn't know what to expect (i.e. if it would be painful), but my fears were unfounded. I find it very relaxing and I have managed to fall asleep at every session!  It has never been painful although there are a few points where it gives a jolt for a few seconds, I don't know how to explain, maybe because it hits some sort of nerve, I don't know. I had 3 accu sessions before my IUI, I had an accu session the day of my IUI (two days ago).  Tomorrow is my 5th accu. session.

    Good luck!  I'm not new agey either - so your perspective is interesting to me.  This reminds me of Charlotte in SATC.

    Thanks for posting about your appt.  I have my first one on Wed. I am not at all the earthy, new-agey type either. I had been thinking about going and doing a little research when an accupuncturist who specializes in fertility purchased one of the houses I have listed.  I really like her and her office is close to my house.  I figured it had to be a sign that she walked into my life right then. :)  I am excited to give it a try!
