Pregnant after a Loss

Anyone tried accupuncture w/ success?

I am curious about accupuncture used for infertility/reccurent pregnancy loss.  My RE has not so much suggested or endorsed it, but they have mentioned that some of their patients try it and believe in it.  After three losses, I am thinking about looking into it.  Has anyone else tried it?  Has it been successful for you?  Are there any other details or information that you can point me to so that I can look into this more?

Re: Anyone tried accupuncture w/ success?

  • Since I am not out of the first tri, I am not sure that I count as success yet.  I have done acupuncture though.  I had two losses at 5 weeks that my RE chalked up to getting pregnant to quickly post IUD and the awful lining it caused.  I was doing acu in tandem and she diagnosed me with thyroid problems.

I really feel that the combo of acu, which helps increase bloodflow to the uterus (and grows lining), along with the comfort of seeing the RE and knowing my thyroid was getting taken care of helped me tremendously!

  • I know of two people that attribute their pregnancies to acupuncture. I personally am not sure. Last year when I was still trying IUIs, I went for a few months and when I wasn't pg, and were prepping for IVF, I stopped. I got pg with 1st round of IVF, but then a m/c @ 10 weeks. So, in prep for FET I decided to "pull out all the stops" and I went back to acupuncture. Well, I got pg before even going forward with the FET, so I am just going to continue acupuncture through my 1st trimester. I figure it can't hurt and I hope it helps with my lining issues.
  •      I am a total believer in acupuncture!   began acupuncture a couple of months after my first loss, and I became pregnant within two weeks of starting (my acupuncturist told me before I started that it usually takes at least two months to see results through acupuncture).  During that pregnancy it was discovered that I have a thyroid issue, and unfortunately I had a 2nd loss and had a D&C.  I continued with the acupuncture, and she began treating my thyroid, and I also started the thyroid meds.  I had one period before I got pg again.  It was the first time I had ever had a completely pain-free period, no cramps or anything, it was slightly heavier than it had been.  I'm now almost 16 weeks along and have not had any complications with this pregnancy.  My thyroid levels have been within the normal range after about 6 weeks on the meds and with the acupuncture.  Anyway, I hope this helps.  GL!

  • Hi there!  I had two losses in a row and was going to acupuncture with my 3rd pregnancy.  I feel so blesses that I found the fertility acupuncturist that i did...she is amazing.  So far things are going great!  My midwife actually recommended her because a lot of women have had success with them and natural fertility treatments.  I would recommend it 100 percent.  Good luck!

  • I had accupunture after my miscarriage. I have fibroids and PCOS and I hoped that it would help me get pregnant again and carry to term. If nothing else, it was a relaxing escape every week. I continued through my first trimester.
