Trying to Get Pregnant

should i buy a test?

So I think this is probably a stupid question, but I'm going to ask it anyway.  I recently had my period, however my boobs have grown a whole cup size and I've had nausea (esp. with the smell of food) and heartburn for a little while now.  Am I crazy or should I take a pregnancy test and also how long after you conceive is the test accurate?  I'm wondering if I should take one and if it would be a waste of money at this point.  Thanks!

  • If you got your period, yes it would be a waste of money.  Wacky things happen to your body when you get your period - have you gone off bcp recently?

  • how recent is recently? It would probably be a waste of $$
  • Do you know when you ovulated?

If you're pregnant enough to have symptoms, then you're pregnant enough to show a positive HPT. It could be any number of things besides pregnancy too.

  • 14 days after ovulation is a decent rule of thumb for testing.  If you don't know for sure when you ovulated, just go buy a couple of tests.

  • define "recent" and define "period" - spotting? normal flow?

oh and if your concerned, yes pee on a stick. You can buy them at the dollar store.

Around 18 days after ovulation is a test you can rely on.

  • If you are pregnant then the bleeding that you experienced wasn't your period- could have been spotting or implantation bleeding. The test would be accurate no matter what, because it detects the pregnancy hormone. GL

  • Besides pointing to the FAQ at the top, I will say that we cannot tell you if it is a waste of money, because a) I'll guess you don't know when you ovulated and b) even then we can't guess if it is too soon or not.

I'd recommend starting to test at no earlier than 12dpo. But then, see a) above.

  • Are you sure it was your period and not spotting?

Do you chart? How do you know if you ovulated?

Go to the dollar store and buy a test. If you're having symptoms then you're obviously far enough along to test positive if it's true.

So you're on birth control?! Hmm

  • You're not on any new bc.  Does that mean you are on bc?

good sleuthing!  (is that a word?)

    to the OP:

my boobs get big at different points in my cycle.  that's not necessarily an indication you're pregnant.  the only way to answer your question is to test.  a word to the wise, though:  you lucked out with the answers you've received so far.  lurk a bit before posting something like this again!  and if you should choose to post such a vague question, at least include some necessary details like how many DPO you are, when your last period was, etc.  nobody on here can look into your uterus but we REALLY can't help you even in the slightest bit without some details like the ones i mentioned.

  • When I gain weight my boobs get bigger. Just saying.
