2nd Trimester

Does anyone cook anymore?

So I used to cook dinner pretty much all of the time...probably 4-5 days out of the week.  Since being preggo I have cooked dinner maybe a hand full of times.  Yikes....that's not good.  I think its because the things I used to cook...chicken, mainly...still sounds disgusting to me!  Anyone else having this problem?

Re: Does anyone cook anymore?

  • LOL yes to all of this. I barely cook. Maybe twice a week - poor DH.

And CLEANING.....now that is another story. Its awful Surprise

  • I have never cooked.  I really shouldn't say never, I got demoted from cooking when I set a baked potato on fire in the microwave!  Thank God DH is a good cook!  He takes care of me and the LO!
  • I love to cook, and since we don't have to many good restaurant choices in my town my DH is glad.  I did slow it down a bit for awhile due to lack of energy but now am back in the kitchen 4-5 times a week.

  • I get like box dinners and cook them for FI.

They are tasty and are quick!

  • I still cook, with the help of my DH, but I don't do a lot of cleaning anymore, outside of washing dishes, so we hired someone to do that. Such a godsent!

  • DH and I are trying to save as much money as we can.  We have a big trip planned a few months after baby girl is born and we want to have a nice cushion in our savings.

Moral of the story:  I cook almost every day.  (I still manage to convince him to eat out for Sunday brunch each week.)

DH takes the leftovers to work with him each day for lunch.  We have saved TONS of money!

  • I still cook just not as often.  I like to make sure I have healthy dishes and if I didn't cook then i would eat poorly
  • I cook now that my m/s has finally worn off! I avoid cooking foods that I still have food aversions too (I have an aversion to chicken which I used to cook with all the time too) so I cook foods that I think/know my body will tolerate. Ground beef is okay now and for some reason anything sausage too Embarrassed  and pork was okay too. If you like chicken, I bet you'd like pork and maybe that would go down better for you? GL!
  • I never really cooked. DH made the mistake of telling me when we were dating that he learned how to cook to impress women, ha he's so screwed now. I'm like the anti-Martha Stewart. I once cooked a potholder and have actually lit an electric stove on fire.

My husband works out of town and is gone about 4 nights a week. When he's gone I usually make something quick and easy for me. I eat a lot of big salads. It's also been really hot so I hate to turn on the stove or oven. I rarely cook when it's just for me. When my husband is home, he is usually the one that cooks. He likes it and he's more creative than I am.

  • I always cooked dinner before becoming pregnant, however m/s made me not want to look at food at all until about week 14-15. Now I am cooking and baking all the time. I made chicken pot pie yesterday, from scratch :)
  • I'm actually cooking (and baking) more now than I ever have.  We've been having construction done at the house, so I haven't really been able to start nesting properly just yet.  I think I am using my kitchen as an outlet for that!
  • i try to cook a couple times per week-we typically shared the task anyway and sometimes it is just hard to cook and then eat what i made.  although when i am up for it i do cook.
  • I normally love to cook, but it's been so effing hot since I've started feeling better I haven't gotten back into the swing of things yet.

  • In the first trimester I barely cooked at all because nothing sounded good and I was exhausted. Then in May I started working nights 4 days a week so i'm not around to cook. DH isn't a big cook but sometimes he will make mac 'n' cheese and I get to enjoy the leftovers when I get home. I wish I were home more to cook. I really enjoy cooking a nice meal, and I know we would save more money by cooking at home rather than eating out which we tend to do on the weekends when we are home together.

I don't know why, but I couldn't stop laughing at this!  LOL, that's one way to get out of cooking!  I'm lucky like you that my DH cooks for me too. : )
