Hi,
I am a new mom. My son is 11 days old and was born 10 days early. I wanted so badly to EBF and while in the hospital, my son latched on and ate like a champ. But once we got home, he had his days and nights confused and would sleep all day and be up all night. NOTHING I did would wake him up during the day - NOTHING!! And believe me - I tried it all. The problem with that is that he wouldn't latch on while he would sleep during the day and at night I couldn't get him to latch on because he would be frantic screaming and starving. So I found that the only way to get him BM is to pump it and feed it to him from a bottle. I figured that was better than nothing.
Now that he has gotten better with his days and nights I tried to re-latch him and now he is too lazy to suck. It's much easier to get it out of a bottle than from me. So I continue to pump. The problem is that my supply seems to have stalled. I get anywhere between 3-6 oz. combined from both breasts. I pump 4-5 times a day. What can I do to up my supply??
TIA!!!
Re: EP Supply issues - HELP
At that time I couldn't get that much out in one session.
You need to pump more often. As many times as your LO eats is the # of times you need to pump. Your output will be less but more frequent. Keep this up until you reach what he needs.
