Silly question.. Ok to drink Ensure?

I know this is probably a silly question, but I like to double check, just in case. I have days where I am not very hungry and find drinking something easier than trying to make myself eat. The Ensure drinks are safe, right?

I just asked about these at my appt on Monday because I don't think I am getting enough protein in with my meat aversion. OB said protein drinks in general are fine, but his advice was that Ensure and Boost are loaded with sugar so to take it easier on those. I found a whey protein powder in chocolate that I love and I mix it with milk, ice, pb and a banana.

My friend drank slim fast as a snack so I would they they are similar. I wouldn't use it as a meal replacement though.

Thanks! I'm just going to use them as a supplement and rarely.. maybe twice a week. I don't eat meat, so I figured this would help with protein intake as well.

I survived on Ensure and Boost shakes for most of my pregnancy with Katen. I got the high protein/low sugar kinds that are meant for diabetics because yes, the regular ones do have a ton of sugar.

I just picked up two little bottles of the regular kind to try, so I will look for the low sugar when I pick some up this weekend.

I was TOLD by my MFM Doc to drink 3 or 4 a day, I was having trouble gaining weight for the 1st 4 months and it got really hard to eat toward the end...Ensure helped me and my babies a LOT.
