Anybody else just get completely overwhelmed by all the baby "stuff"? I'm reading through baby bargains and have a few good lists of the 'must haves' but if I start looking at it for too long I get a headache and give up. Anybody else feel the same way?
Re: Overwhelmed by all the stuff to purchase
It definitely can be.
I took my SIL to BRU with me when I registered and she told me everything I would need. Afterwards, I compared my registry to the BRU guidelist provided and it matched up pretty well. You might refer to there list...I don't think it was too overwhelming. Plus it also had suggestions of quantity on some items.
Just remember, all you really need are diapers, a way to feed the baby (either your b**b or a bottle), clothes, and a place for the baby to sleep. Anything else is simply there to add convenience to our lives. Try to stick with the basics and then if you have time and the money buy the extras.
It can be very overwhelming. From my experience I will tell you that you do really only need the basics at first. I fretted over a bassinet or a pack n play for weeks and guess what? My DS was colicky and we had to hold him for 12 weeks. So he never ever used the pack n play. But the swing was a godsend. You just don't know what your baby will like or not like.
As far as stuff ( besides diapers/bottles/pacifers etc) I could have never made it without my 2 Boppy Pillows. I could have survived 3 months with those, a swing, a car seat and a stroller.
But I agree to just go off the BRU list and save your receipts!!!!
I started to let myself get overwhelmed, but then I broke it down into a few small sections, which made it a whole heck of a lot easier to handle. I am planning on tackling the big stuff first: Crib, Changing Table, Stroller/Car Seats.
Then I will work on the smaller stuff. I make it a point to pick up baby wipes and diapers every time i go to the store.
