Could you tell me what was involved for you to become a LC?  I'm thinking about switching careers and would love to chat with you about what is involved and some other things on my mind.  Thanks!!

    sure not a problem.

you have to take a class- https://www.ilca.org/i4a/pages/Index.cfm?pageID=3353

the class is around 600-750.00 and is 45 hours long (during the week)

1000 clinical hours shadowing a LC

    EXCELLENT LC book

once you take the course and complete all of your shadow hours- you have to apply for the exam.

It is a lot of work---

what kind of questions do you have?

Are there a lot of other businesses to work for besides hospitals?  I guess I've only ever heard of a LC through the hospital, so I wasn't sure if local companies were prevalent?

What are the really crappy parts of your job?  You know, the stuff you hate to do, but it's part of the job, so you have to do it.

What are the hours like?  I guess this depends on who you're working for, but I wonder what your job will look like if you know?

Is it tough to find work for a LC or are they in need right now?

    What is the salary like?

I know these questions are all over the place.  I was speaking to a coworker today about my BF experiences and trying to offer advice for his wife and just realized that I love talking to people about this and I'm really unhappy in my job right now and know this field isn't for me and it just felt right and something I would look forward to getting up and doing every day.  If you don't mind, would you send me an email? jmherrmann at gmail dot com
