Babies: 0 - 3 Months

How do you feel about your postbaby bod?

Hey Ladies,

I'm working on a piece right now about how to love your postbaby body and wanted to see what you all had to say on the subject.

How has your body image changed (if it has at all) now that the baby's here? Are you more confident/less confident/don't even have time to think about it? Is there anything you love more about your body now? (ie those bigger boobs?) What areas (if any) are you most self-conscious about now?

I'd love it if you could share any stories/feelings/comments below, but you can also shoot me an email at kstanford@theknot.com.

TIA!

Re: How do you feel about your postbaby bod?

  • I am perfectly happy with my post-baby bod!!! I'm not the size I was pre-baby, but in all honesty I had lost 50 lbs. before I got pregnant and I'm not back up to my original weigth so I'm a happy camper!! I am confident that I will lose the weight again and I am back on Weight Watchers which is how I lost the weight to begin with. I'm not on WW because I'm disgusted with my body - I'm on it because I was healthier, more energetic and I realize I can't be overweight all my life as it's a bad example to set for my daughter as well as not a healthy way to live.

I realize that it's going to take some time (got 17 lbs. to go!) and I'm perfectly okay with that. I also realize that even when I do reach my goal weight, my body is never going to be the same! I had 'child-bearing hips' to begin with...and now they're REALLY ready to go through another birth! :)

  • I didn't feel so bad the first couple of months after baby, but now that she's over 6 months old and I can't lose the weight is making me feel like crap. It's mostly fat around my middle I think

  • I'm content w/ my body. I'm less than 5 pounds away from my PP weight and most of my pants fit.  I can't wait to start running again for my sanity but lack of sleep really takes a toll on you.  I hope to lose the last few pounds once I start running but if not I'm happy with what I got.
  • I lost all the baby weight plus a few within two weeks after delivering so I was very lucky. I did notice my body change in some areas but I have so much confidence now than before I was pregnant!

  • I hated my stomach before I got pregnant and hate it even more now.  I could just cry looking at it...stretch marks everywhere, squishy with fat, wrinkly skin.  Have you puked yet?  I'm at my PP weight, but I want to lose at least another 10 (like I said, hated my stomach before baby) if not more and need to tighten for sure.  I just hate my stomach.  Everything else is okay.

  • I got pretty lucky considering that i only have 6 more pounds to lose. The problem is where ive lost it. I lost my "cute" butt that DH loved and my legs are really thin. My stomach is keeping the weight on. :(  So i feel really thin with an akward gut. I dont feel too bad about it right now because I only had him 5 weeks ago but if I still look like this in a couple months i will be pretty upset.
