Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Any anti-swaddle babies out there?

DD can sleep without being swaddled.  At night when DH and I want to sleep we try to swaddle her (but leave her arms out becuase she doesn't like to have her arms pinned down) but she likes to escape.  I bought a SwaddleMe and Halo just to keep her legs covered at night.

Does anyone have an anti-swaddle baby out there?

  • Yes! He hasn't been a fan of the swaddle since we brought him home from the hospital. He likes his arms out too.?

I put him in footed pj's at night and I've bought a few sleep sacks for when the weather cools off.?

  • Yes. Our daughter never cared if she was swaddled or not (and when we did swaddle her we would wake up to her kicked out of it) so we never really pressed it so that we didnt have to break the habit later on. She has been STTN for a little over 2 weeks now and she just sleeps in her footsie pajamas (no blanket).

  • DS never cared for it. We did it for about 2 weeks. It made no difference with how he slept, so we just stopped because it was annoying for us. DS has been STTN since 11 weeks

  • We do! DD was breaking her swaddle at night at 2 weeks. She sleeps with her legs stretched out and her arms above her head. We sometimes use a sleep sack that lets her arms free. Otherwise we just dress her warmly for bed.

  • Yes, my dd never liked the swaddle.  We stopped swaddling her the day we brought her home from the hospital.  She sleeps in a sleeper during the summer, and we'll use a sleep sack once it cools down.

  • DS hated being swaddled ever since leaving the hospital. Usually we just put him in footed pj's or if its warm out like it has been he just sleeps in a t-shirt and his diaper with a light blanket. He loves to ball the blanket up and hold it next to his cheek.

  • My son hated the swaddle. ?He would scream when we put him in it - not exactly the soothing experience we were expecting lol.

  • DS kicks out of the swaddler and works his arms out, too.  We don't swaddle his arms and now he sleeps in a halo sleep sack.  He loved the swaddle in the hospital, but not so much at home.

Fine with me...I like having my hands above my head when I sleep, too!

  • Neither of mine liked the swaddle--both hated their arms pinned down, so we stopped swaddling with both soon after they came home from hospital.
  • DS sleeps longer when swaddled (can't startle himself), but we can't swaddle him until he's in a deep sleep.  He hates being swaddled while awake or even drowsy.
  • He hates having his arms swaddled. He'll always manage to get at least 1 arm out.
  • Yes!!! & Im getting sick of people who tell me that she has to be swaddled. Lila screams if she cant get her hands out & she hates mittens too. Its nice to know there are others out there :)
  • We also have an anti-swaddler.

She hates having her arms pinned down, so we started with leaving her arms out.

Then she was getting too hot in the swaddle blanket (and the Aden-Anais blankets are too big for us to do a good swaddle) so we switched this week to halo sleep sacks. They're working very well, except that I haven't figure out nap time yet. I've had her fall asleep on me and then when I put her down, she wakes up. I think I'm going to have to start using the sleep sack for nap time too.
