LO sleeping--but at the wrong time

Here's my LO's schedule that has naturally arisen:

9pm:  Last BF feeding.  I get ready for bed, pump once before, then sleep.

10pm-1am:  My DH watches LO from about until she goes to sleep.  This is her "fussy" period.  She usually has one feeding and typically falls asleep around 1 am.

5/6am: She used to wake for a feeding then, but has started sleeping through it the past two nights.

9am:  Morning feeding, she goes right back to sleep afterwards.

noon:  LO gets up.

I want to change this schedule to have her get to sleep at 9pm, rather than at 1am.  I'm going to start a bedtime routine this week.  Is it too early for me to try and change her sleeping schedule?  (through encouragement and soothing, I wouldn't let her CIO or anything).  Any suggestions for making the change?

  • Why do you want to change this?  I'd kill for that schedule!  :)

  • Around you LO's age, DS fell asleep around 11:30/midnight and wake up for good around 11 a.m.  It's pretty normal.  He eventually started shifting his feeds/sleep patterns around and now goes down between 8-8:30 and gets up around 7:30/8 a.m. with a small bottle around 5 a.m.  You can try encouraging the shift but she will likely start rearranging her schedule on her own soon.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the amount she's sleeping, and I know we're really lucky that she is sleeping so well.

I'm worried about her developing an abnormally late bedtime, especially since she does seem to be getting into a routine.  My DH is in law school and has early morning classes starting in late August, so won't be able to continue to do those late night soothing sessions as easily.
